azonenberg: Well using FT245 is out of the question. *Somehow* there is a minimum SPI clk frequency requirement of 1 MHz, and 1 MHz the max bandwidth of the chip.
<balrog>
cr1901_modern: ft232h?
<balrog>
I feel like that one should have higher bandwidth
<balrog>
cr1901_modern: did Lattice suggest an ft245?
<balrog>
I'd just upgrade because the ft232h is a better chip
<cr1901_modern>
They didn't suggest anything :P. I prob won't hear from them for a day lmao
<cr1901_modern>
balrog: The main problem is that I intend to reuse the SPI config pins as I/O after configuration is done. I'm currently trying to determine whether it is possible to share the SPI config pins and pins used for FT245 mode. I'd like to avoid using an FT2232H.
<cr1901_modern>
IceStick can already be programmed in "Peripheral Mode (i.e. No Flash memory)" with a mod. Haven't figured out exactly what changed yet.
<azonenberg>
I think the 232H may be able to operate in MPSSE mode
<azonenberg>
or parallel mode
<azonenberg>
dont quote me on that though
<cr1901_modern>
azonenberg: It can. I checked. And the cost of upgrading to FT232H (not 2232H) is minimal. The issue is pin sharing.
<cr1901_modern>
FT2232H gets around this by well... preventing pin sharing (one channel for SPI config, the other for a queue). It's also bumps up the cost by 40% relative to the FPGA.
<cr1901_modern>
azonenberg: I also considered a small microcontroller. Want to see my pros/cons list if interested and have a moment?
