Hey all, I'm having an issue with the Jellyean nightlies on an i9300 at the moment. I've installed "Good for Enterprise" onto the device (corporate email delivery app) and it is failing to connect to their servers. Assuming it was the app i've gone to clear the data/cache and found that none of the buttons on the App management screen are selectable ie. No 'Force Stop', 'Uninstall', 'Clear Data', 'Clear Cache' or 'Clear Defa

<xplodwild>
The_Pot: Nah, I'm still going to maintain them for now, though I'll be more interested in porting CM11 to the devices rather than frying my brain on fixing little nitpicks that pops up after blob updates
<ascent>
Yeah, the best way to use most of the Samsung stuff is to run a samsung-based ROM I guess.
<Entropy512>
I think that may be the real gate... At this point, most of the hardest shit of CM10 is behind us
<The_Pot>
i see xplodwild
<Entropy512>
but I don't think I'm going to do CM11 on any of the Exynos devices I own
<whitequark>
Entropy512: as in "fixed"?

I just rooted and flashed my first phone ever, last week. I'm still in doubt if I should run a samsung-based (but stripped) ROM, or AOSP.
<ascent>
entropy512: CM11 will be android 4.2?
<Entropy512>
whitequark: yeah... audio is one of the remaining big issues, most of the other stuff shouldn't be too painful to clean up

<peterperfect>
early
<peterperfect>
probably 4.2 so
<The_Pot>
Nexus 2, yeah, its gonna be 4.2 we hear
<xplodwild>
they should make Android like Chrome
<peterperfect>
if 4.2 then we still cm10

<xplodwild>
peterperfect: no
<peterperfect>
again this discussion?
<peterperfect>
hahahah
<Entropy512>
HC was 3.0/3.1/3.2
<peterperfect>
GB was 2.3.xxxxx
<Thracky>
cm revision depends on whether el goog gives it a new name :P
<xplodwild>
Entropy512: well Honeycomb was a bit "out of the mainline" imo
<Entropy512>
but most of the other time, point releases do bump
<Entropy512>
Thracky: yeah pretty much
<peterperfect>
xplodwild cm will only change number when android changes codename
<xplodwild>
yeah
<Entropy512>
next nexus devices might just be 4.1.2 or something like that
<peterperfect>
thats what upstream ppl told os when coming from ics to jb
<xplodwild>
but I assume major release + nexus involve codename change
<xplodwild>
3.0/3.1/3.2 were "silent" updates
<peterperfect>
but wont be major release probably
<peterperfect>
just 4.2 + nexus
<peterperfect>
too early to bump to KeyLimePie
<Entropy512>
I don't think it'll be a major release
<Entropy512>
well, maybe 50/50 chance
<peterperfect>
anyway
<Entropy512>
but in short: CM10 is the end of the line for Exynos devices unless Samsung shapes up
<peterperfect>
hope google dont mess loudly with framework again
<peterperfect>
merging movement from ics was a pain
<Entropy512>
well maybe small chance we'll move to CM11 when one device gets the next version
<Entropy512>
but I'm sick and tired of trying to do early bringups in blob hell
<Entropy512>
universally, CM is shit for a new Android version on Exynos until at least one device in a family gets an official upgrade
<Entropy512>
and that isn't the case for OMAP/Qcom

<icetwy>

_slax0r_ has joined #teamhacksung-support
<Espenfjo>
Yes, try that
<icetwy>
rightio
<Espenfjo>
unzip the tar, I think
<Espenfjo>
or.. hm.. odin.. it may do that for you
<icetwy>
probably yeah
<Espenfjo>
try it ;) It wont break download mode
<Thracky>
yeah odin takes the tar directly
<icetwy>
there we go, done.
<icetwy>

<Espenfjo>
It may take minutes
<icetwy>
okay
<Espenfjo>
Did you come from an old nightly, or from stock?
<bbqbot>
derp
<Espenfjo>
or another rom?
<icetwy>
I came from the 1 october CM10 nightly
<icetwy>
with the stock CM10 kernel.
<icetwy>
updated to the 2 october nightly
<icetwy>
and yeah, started bugging
<Espenfjo>
yeah.. true.. you said you booted after it being slow
<Espenfjo>
sorry :)
<icetwy>
oh np
<icetwy>
CM is amazing, a little problem won't stop me from using it lol
<Espenfjo>
Install adb if you do not have it
<icetwy>
on Linux?
<Espenfjo>
yes
<Espenfjo>
or.. where you preffer it :)
<icetwy>
*shrug* I'm on Windows right now
<icetwy>
guess I'll do that
<icetwy>
doesn't ADB come with the Android SDK tho?
<Espenfjo>
yes
<Espenfjo>
So you can use it fine from windows
<icetwy>
downloading the SDK then
<icetwy>
btw; nothing's happening on the phone right now
pier|znc is now known as pier
<Thracky>
now, keep in mind, there is a very very slim chance something has coincidentally gone physically wrong with your phone.
<icetwy>
as realistic as I am, that would be highly unlikely
<Thracky>
what I would do honestly, flash cm9 resurrection edition (if it exists for the i9300, not sure tbh) or go back to stock.
<Thracky>
(using odin)
<icetwy>
I've the i9100.
<Thracky>
then you def have cm9 resurrection edition available.
<Espenfjo>
hm
<Espenfjo>
oh.. erm.. yeah.. siyah wont work on 02
<Thracky>
lol
<icetwy>
hahaha
<Espenfjo>
but it will get you into recovery
<icetwy>
thought so
<Espenfjo>
And from there you can flash 01 :)
<icetwy>
gah
<icetwy>
looks like the 3 buttons combination doesn't work
<icetwy>
whether I do it before having the Samsung logo, or while I have it, it doesn't boot into recovery
<Espenfjo>
install adb, and do "adb reboot recovery"
<icetwy>
what's it going to do?
<Espenfjo>
reboot into recovery ;)
<icetwy>
oh aye
<icetwy>
didn't notice 'recovery'
<icetwy>
lmao
<icetwy>
tho
<icetwy>
will I have to flash the 10/01 CM10 nightly, or flash yet another kernel
<icetwy>
in ADB reboot recovery
<Espenfjo>
flash 10/01
<icetwy>
alrighty
<icetwy>
can't find the ADB within the SDK
<icetwy>
where's it?
<Espenfjo>
platform-tools/adb
<icetwy>
huh
<icetwy>
i've installed the platform tools
<icetwy>
still can't find ADB
<icetwy>
lmao

<icetwy>

<Espenfjo>
I am glad that my company pays the bill ;)
