hey guys
<blackxored>
hope you're well, I'm starting to freak out I've been flashing radios since yesterday, with no luck, so let me get back to basics and ask you the simple questions
<blackxored>
1. does the galaxy s i9000 (on about phone) or i9000m (on back) support gsm 900mhz as I though all galaxys were gsm quadband
<blackxored>
2. which modem should I use for Cuba (Cubacel / GSM900MHz)
<blackxored>
3. Do I need to flash the bootloader as well to get results?
<blackxored>
Please help me on this one
<blackxored>
forgot to tell you the problem which you might deducted: Low coverage outside, 0 signal indoors
<blackxored>
wifi is also low even when I have an add-hoc network created in my linux box and the phone is laying besides it

Neounk: I had a pretty comprehensive list on chainfire's Got Brickbug app thread
<Neounk>
"Unknown chip", is there an output for known-good chips or is "Unknown" as good as it gets?
<Neounk>
Oops, just re-read thread: probably bad. Is it possible to install CM10 on a bad chip or will it superbrick it?
<Jiangyi>
You can do it if you're careful.
<Neounk>
So as long as I flash exactly as intended I should be fine, or at least be able to recover?

<Henrique>
reseting the flash count
<whitequark>
Henrique: it isn't
<whitequark>
resetting the flash count and rom status is practically the same thing; you just have two fields in the bootloader at a distance of several bytes
<Henrique>
I see
<whitequark>
and you can't make it any other way either. so if you consider it dangerous for yourself, you're stuck with triangle

<Henrique>
?
<bbqbot>

<whitequark>
Henrique: obviously
<bealtine>
flashing cf-root ups the counter
<whitequark>
the flash counter is only increased by the bootloader, i.e. only when you flash through the download mode
<Henrique>
it's just going to be the one time when you root it then, you're right
<whitequark>
if you flash through linux, the bootloader is blissfully unaware of any changes
<Henrique>
seriously? so if I have a dual boot it's just better to do it through the terminal than odin, cause then I'll never need to use triangleaway
<bealtine>
rooting ups the counter once
<whitequark>
yep

you can gather all required commands from the update-script in META-INF

hello and help (!). I've just installed cm10 latest nightly on a i9100. But after a while I suddenly lost the signal and it won't come back after reboots etc.

<simech2>
and in settings it says "unknown" baseband, even though it has been working
<bealtine>
did you wipe?
<bealtine>
in cwm
<simech2>
yes
<simech2>
full wipe, the phone was coming from a cm9 install
<bealtine>
doesnt sound like it
<simech2>
and new (lq6) baseband was flashed
<bealtine>
why?
Anthony1s_ has joined #teamhacksung-support
<simech2>
why not? The point is that it was working perfectly fine after the flashing and reinstallation of the apps, but suddenly it stopped working

could there be a relationship?

nope, flashed cm10, gapps, radio, boot, reinstallation, reboot, surfing the internet, stop working

yes, but in the settings it says unknown baseband
<bealtine>
and that a surprise?
<whitequark>
ok, I have xxlpq@cm10
<simech2>
and my apn list is empty, I'm not sure if that's normal or not
<whitequark>
and I've had it on cm9; and it worked perfectly for last two months on both firmwares
<simech2>
any thoughts about the apn list?
<bbqbot>
derp
<akSeya>
I have cm10, XXLQ6 baseband, XXLQ6 RIL
<akSeya>
simech2, tried to flash radio again?
<simech2>
yes, didn't work
<bealtine>
apns are builtin to the rom
<simech2>
and if no entries are showing at all?
<bealtine>
maybee flash rom again
<simech2>
worth a shot..

so thats probably not the problem

<frankdrey-g1>
:P
<frankdrey-g1>
But yeah, I remembered why CM9 isn't an option for me.
<frankdrey-g1>
Because an apple keyboard doesn't work with it.
<simech2>
ever had issues with calendar sync? Seems like it's going in some kind of sync loop..
<frankdrey-g1>

I think I've discovered something interresting: When rebooting with the charger connected, I am unable to connect to data/phone. BUT (!) when rebooting with the charger disconnected, there is no problem at all. Tadaaa
jug6-note is now known as Jug6ernaut
<whitequark>
simech2: that explains everything, I believe
<whitequark>
there is an ID resistor variant which bypasses the internal BP control channel outside, thus making it inaccessible to the AP during boot
<simech2>
depends if that's happening to more than just me :P
<whitequark>
naw, it isn't a permanent problem
<whitequark>
in fact you can skip the whole reboot and just do "su -c 'killall -9 rild'" for the same effect
<whitequark>
and clean your connectors

true enough but they can be hard to find

you dont go to walmart and get them
