<azonenberg>
v1.4 board is at fab now but i'm already beginning to run simulations of what v1.5 might be like
<azonenberg>
the cyan trace is -20.9 to -19.5 dB from DC to 5.5 GHz then falls off
<azonenberg>
with -3 dB at 6.75 GHz
<azonenberg>
Some slight ripples still (0.3 dB p-p roughly) that a de-embed could flatten out. not sure if it's worth the effort to try and eliminate them
<azonenberg>
a few small ripples that i'm not thrilled about in the upper part of the band
<azonenberg>
but they're only ~0.5 dB p-p
<azonenberg>
this is also raw s-parameters off the test fixture with no de-embed
<azonenberg>
so there's actually loss in the fixture etc which means the actual probe response is even better than this
<azonenberg>
Anyway, the tl;dr is that I have 250 of these boards, they do everything I want
<azonenberg>
I have one potted in silicone curing now, tomorrow i'll test if parameters shifted at all from the overmolding
<azonenberg>
I expect i will be making a few small changes to the overmold, probably 3D printing one last prototype
<azonenberg>
then CNCing a 10-probe gang mold
<azonenberg>
as soon as that comes in, i can start scaling up and offering assembled units to the general public
<azonenberg>
The AKL-PT1 should be general availability soon too, but i'm waiting on 1-2 more prototype iterations to try and flatten out the peaking that TSP pointed out in his review
<apo>
Goes "I have 0 samples for you!" for a while, then suddenly starts shitting samples all over the place when I'm not asking for them
<azonenberg>
apo: lol
<azonenberg>
that sounds very rigol all right ;p
<tnt>
It's just learning ... you asked for data twice and it couldn't provide any. So sensing your disappointement, it tried to be proactive and provide you sample as soon as it had some.
<azonenberg>
lolol
<bvernoux1>
hello
<bvernoux1>
I have some news about Rigol R&D
<bvernoux1>
They are working on the SCPI slowness on Rigol MSO5000
<bvernoux1>
I shall have some news next week as they are working on a new firmware
<d1b2>
<TiltMeSenpai> oh wait awesome
<d1b2>
<TiltMeSenpai> I'll probably have to wait for the forums to develop a "hobbyist license" for it but
<azonenberg>
woop, first prod rev AKL-PT2 is out of the mold
<azonenberg>
so far the clips are fitting quite well
<azonenberg>
Hmmmm
<azonenberg>
So there are some ripples in the response with the silicone added
<azonenberg>
And they're bigger than I'd like, about a dB p-p
<azonenberg>
I mean it's still quite flat compared to a lot of the alternatives
