it is a massive antenna with tons of mini antennas forming a huge array ...

Fun things is all chipset included are done by ST

<azonenberg>
Well that's mildly annoying
<azonenberg>
it seems like glscopeclient no longer runs on my waverunner
<azonenberg>
GL_ARB_gpu_shader_int64 *is* supported on the Intel HD Graphics 530
<azonenberg>
... but only on Linux
<azonenberg>
the windows driver doesn't seem to list it
<azonenberg>
Also, i just discovered a new resistor i want to try on a probe
<azonenberg>
The Vishay CH series. Flip chip but it comes with a 250 ohm option unlike the FC series
<azonenberg>
And their 200 ohm has flatter frequency response than the FC series
<azonenberg>
So basically it looks like if I switch from FC to CH series I could replace three (200-200-50) with two (250-200) resistors, greatly reducing the reflections between them
<azonenberg>
it would also have slightly less peaking at high freqs: a FC0402 50 + 200 in series is 161 ohms at 10 GHz, a CH0402 250 is 172
<azonenberg>
and for the second resistor, a FC0402 200 is 106 @ 10 GHz while a CH0402 200 is 157
<azonenberg>
The price you pay for this is significantly increased cost (about $6 on digikey in low volume) as well as worse tolerances (2% vs 0.1% DC resistance)
<azonenberg>
But i think for flatter RF performance it's worth it, i can easily calibrate out a small DC gain error

Just ordered the next rev AKL-PT2 (v0.4) with castellations on the tip plus soldermask on the main transmission line to reduce ENIG losses
<azonenberg>
So we'll see how that works

<Bird|otherbox>
bvernoux, yeah, I think each phased array element is like a 3 element Yagi made of patches
<Bird|otherbox>
or at least 2 but 3 would make more sense I think if possible
<Bird|otherbox>
the driven elements are on the outside of the board, the "floating" copper patches are an array of directors
<Bird|otherbox>
and there might be an array of reflectors embedded inside the PCB itself on an inner layert
<Bird|otherbox>
which is REALLY COOL if you ask me
<Bird|otherbox>
because it's basically a 3D antenna array at that point, combining phased/driven array and parasitic array capabilities

You can now plot a histogram of TIE to get a plot of Tj in your signal
<azonenberg>
so far no jitter decomposition
