<drebs> Hi! I am looking for information about emails sent when sharing grains, but couldn't find in the documentation.
<drebs> I want to know if an email is also sent when you share a grain with a user of the system, or if sandstorm only sends an email when you share a grain with an email address.
<drebs> Thanks!

<coffeebird[m]> Is there a way to only display collection grains? Gets a bit messy once there are 15+ grains going
ocdtr_web has joined #sandstorm
<ocdtr_web> kentonv: My TTRSS client appears to be dead again, although I swear it worked fine this morning.
<ocdtr_web> It may actually just be an Oasis issue straight up, actually.
<ocdtr_web> Not only will my TTRSS grain not load, but the debug log hangs on loading too.
<ocdtr_web> Yeah, it's not TTRSS specific, my grains are hanging in general.
<coffeebird[m]> Thanks! Yeah the collections app has helped a lot. But on my end I still see each collection and each individual grain in my list. It's not a huge deal atm.
<drebs> coffeebird[m], now i understand your question, sorry, don't know the answer
<ocdtr_web> Gah, it looks like BotBot has a gap. I don't see coffeebird[m]'s original question.
<drebs> ocdtr_web, i will paste his and mine ;)
<drebs> 13:06 <coffeebird[m]> Is there a way to only display collection grains? Gets a bit messy once there are 15+ grains going
<drebs> 11:47 <drebs> Hi! I am looking for information about emails sent when sharing grains, but couldn't find in the documentation.
<drebs> 11:48 <drebs> I want to know if an email is also sent when you share a grain with a user of the system, or if sandstorm only sends an email when you share a grain with an email address.
<ocdtr_web> Actually, there is a way, coffeebird[m]!
<ocdtr_web> If you go to https://oasis.sandstorm.io/apps/s3u2xgmqwznz2n3apf30sm3gw1d85y029enw5pymx734cnk5n78h (but on your Sandstorm server), it will show the view of a given app, in this case, Collections, and grains of that app.
<ocdtr_web> There isn't a way to make that your default view, and it won't show you grains which aren't in a collection, but the app ID is permanent so you could make a shortcut to that view of your Sandstorm server.
<coffeebird[m]> Ah right. That's and interesting solution. Thanks!
<ocdtr_web> drebs: I think it only sends an email when you send a share link to an email address (as opposed to a contact, or known Sandstorm user), but I don't remember for sure.
<ocdtr_web> coffeebird[m]: The other way you can filter grains would be to include something in their title, and use the search bar to filter, it looks at grain title and app name. But I don't think you can make a shortcut with a search query pre-entered so that'd be a hassle.
<drebs> ocdtr_web, thanks
<ocdtr_web> drebs: Actually, I was wrong.
<ocdtr_web> Sandstorm should try to send them an email either way. https://github.com/sandstorm-io/sandstorm/blob/master/shell/server/grain-server.js#L530
<ocdtr_web> It looks like it calls the sendEmail function both in the case of sending to an email and sending to a contact, and specifically has text for notifying you that a Sandstorm contact doesn't have a verified email and that you'll need to notify them yourself.
<drebs> ocdtr_web, thanks again.
<ocdtr_web> I get thanked twice if I'm wrong first and then right later. But only thanked once if I'm right in the first place.

<jmsb> hey guys, im having issues opening my docuwiki container
<jmsb> im just getting a spinner, any resources out there to ground me in how to debug would be appreciated :D
<ocdtr_web> jsmb: Are you on Oasis or your own server?
<ocdtr_web> Oasis appears to be having issues at the moment.

<jmsb> oasis--ok cool thanks for that info
<coffeebird[m]> Yeah I'm having issues with my oasis server. Self hosted is working fine though
<coffeebird[m]> Grains aren't loading. I'm on Mobile

<kenton_web> oasis is broken
<kenton_web> all the workers went to 100% CPU earlier. I tried to reboot them but that caused the master to crash.
<michael_s> Is oasis.sandstorm.io down? I'm in Pennsylvania, and I can get to
<michael_s> heh, kenton_web beat me to it.
Telesight has joined #sandstorm
<kenton_web> so rebooting the workers caused the master to crash, and when the master came back up it decided to revert the gateway to a version predating several hotfixes, so it's crashy, and basically I have to push a new release to fix it all
<kenton_web> serves me right for being lazy and not doing a real release over the weekend
<ocdtr_web> It happens.
<ocdtr_web> I stand appreciative of all of the work you do that ensures I don't end up doing that work myself by self-hosting, which I really don't have time to actually do right now.
<kenton_web> FWIW these incidents basically don't happen to self-hosters.
<michael_s> :) I'm listening to Groove Basin right now on my own instance. But I have an Oasis account too. It's my itty bitty contribution to the project.
<michael_s> And FWIW this is the first time Oasis has failed me. Me + home server + Comcast is a lot less reliable.
_whitelogger has joined #sandstorm
<ocdtr_web> Yeah, it's not that I think "these incidents" would happen to my self-hosting, but that "other incidents" would.
<ocdtr_web> And "those" incidents would be addressed by someone drastically less competent.
<ocdtr_web> Someday I'll learn how to use Linux.
<ocdtr_web> I'm actually working my way (slowly) through my community college's cybersecurity degree, and it requires a Linux class, so I'll probably take it, because why not have more degrees?
<xet7> ocdtr_web: Don't you use Linux at desktop?
<ocdtr_web> xet7: No, I'm a Windows guy.
<ocdtr_web> I am such a Windows guy, I run a Windows phone.
<ocdtr_web> I am just really good at pretending to be a native when living around the open source people. :P
<xet7> ocdtr_web: Do you get any updates for Windows phone?
<ocdtr_web> Every month, like clockwork.
<ocdtr_web> I actually get security patches faster than pretty much all Android phones.
<xet7> ocdtr_web: What Windows Phone model?
<ocdtr_web> HP Elite x3, I have the Verizon model that released Nov. 2017.
<ocdtr_web> Windows Mobile will likely drop updates in early 2019 or so, when it officially goes end of life.
<xet7> Sure, Windows Phone and iPhone are more secure than Android
<ocdtr_web> I plan to jump to iOS if Microsoft doesn't have something new by then, though I literally loathe everything about the iPhone as a thing.
<ocdtr_web> (Rumor is Microsoft's working on a foldable phablet thing that can make phone calls, if that happens, I might be saved from the dark abyss of owning an Apple device. We'll see.)
<kenton_web> oasis is recovering, finally
<michael_s> Thanks, @kenton_web.
<kenton_web> and now back to my real job... ttyl
