<Nolski>
so many sandstorm things to do, so little time :)
<asheesh>
(-:
<Nolski>
I think packaging that thing made it to the top of my sandstorm things to do list though
<asheesh>
Yeah fair enough (-: but mostly you should do whatever seems like actual fun to you!
<asheesh>
Yay!

dag10 is also a very friendly upstream - the only caveat is that he doesn't really plan to work on it much anymore, BUT he'll still look at/merge pull requests if they happen
<msoucy>
(I went to school with him, and asked him that question at one point)
<asheesh>
I don't personally use that configuration yet, though, on rose.sandcats.io, so I haven't personally tested it.
<mrdomino>
ok, what's up with the ssl certificates?
<asheesh>
It's not very useful.
<asheesh>
I believe jparyani wrote that config (?) and that it helps people set up inbound SMTPS which is not really a thing.
<asheesh>
So ignore the port 465 stuff IMHO.
<mrdomino>
right on
<asheesh>
What I would do instead honestly is do a TCP proxy so port 25 goes to localhost:30025 and call it a day.
<asheesh>
It'd be cool if Sandstorm supported inbound SMTP STARTTLS, I do suppose.
<asheesh>
But you can get away with not having that, if you want.
<asheesh>
What I would much prefer is if, like HTTPS_PORT in sandstorm.conf, there were an SMTP_PORT config option.
<mrdomino>
yeah that'd be kinda cool
<mrdomino>
what's the roadblock to it?
<asheesh>
I haven't dug into that and will wander off for a while, so ping jparyani probably for future help. Have to attempt to solve some Mystery Hunt mysteries.
<mrdomino>
right on
<asheesh>
Time and prioritization; shouldn't be super hard; requires a little C++ code and a little JS code, but not much I think.
<mrdomino>
yeah ok. prioritization's a bitch :)
<asheesh>
The way a lot of things should work IMHO is that we should find people to declare they want things, and then implement them if so.
<asheesh>
If you and Andrew Wansley both want it, then maybe that bumps it up (-:
<mrdomino>
i want it a bit. i also semi want to try it as a way into the sandstorm code but i am running a bigger free time deficit than normal
<mrdomino>
i'd be mildly into smtp starttls but i sorta like rawdogging it as a reminder that i should really be using gpg
<asheesh>
OK going AFK for more puzzles for a while! Email if you need me; might be some delay.
<jparyani>
mrdomino: setting SMTP_LISTEN_PORT in sandstorm.conf should work right now. Sorry it's undocumented :)
