<pavar234>
Hi guys. I have a basic question, but I am unable to figure that out. If I have a CAPNP struct with a list of integers: trunkIfaces @2: List(UInt64), how can elements be initialized? I was doing:
<pavar234>
auto trunk = v.initTrunkIfaces(vlan->trunk_ifs.size());
<pavar234>
and trunk[0] = 0x1ULL
<pavar234>
and this does not work
<pavar234>
[] operator for lists returns T::Builder for capnp List
<pavar234>
but uint64_t::Builder seems not to exist, because trunk[0] is actually uint64_t

asheesh: do you think sandstorm overlaps with nylug enough that I should change the meetup date?
<mnutt>
I’m also going to send out an email to sandstorm-dev to ask if anyone in or near the area wants to give a talk, but wanted to get the date straightened out first, if it needs to be changed
<asheesh>
Howdy mnutt
<mnutt>
hello!
<asheesh>
Well it's a question for you, I don't know, I'm kind of waffle-y. Mostly I see it as an arguably-fun way to borrow exposure from Let's Encrypt.
<asheesh>
Also I can be in NYC on that day (Wed Jan 20).
<asheesh>
(And Tue Jan 19 and Mon Jan 18 even)
<asheesh>
Deciding that the first meetup is a small group thing to find out what people want to learn and do in the Meetup is a very good plan honestly.
<asheesh>
Which would be a reason to have it be separate.
<asheesh>
As for crossover, maybe you can have a join meetup at some point with NYLUG to benefit from the crossover.
<mnutt>
yeah, that sounds really good. I like that, it takes some of the pressure off to have a great talk before figuring out what people hope to get out of it.
<asheesh>
As for date conflict, I think it's not killer to have the Sandstorm meetup on the same day as NYLUG. If you didn't already have RSVPs I would suggest moving it to not conflict, but I think the cost of change is probably higher than the benefit.
<mnutt>
there are 5 RSVPd at the moment
<asheesh>
Ya
<asheesh>
Maybe we/you can ask them if Tue would work instead. But I guess what I'm saying is, you're free to not do that too, there will always be future months.
<mnutt>
ok, maybe we’ll leave the same date, and then at the meeting take a poll and see what works best for people
<asheesh>
Yeah, awesome.

And now I will RSVP yes!
<asheesh>
(unless you don't want me!)
<asheesh>
(in which case I'm fine doing something else) (I "have to" go to NYC that week anyway to see something at MOMA on Monday Jan 18 fwiw.)
<mnutt>
no, we definitely want you there. the more the better.
<asheesh>

<asheesh>
K, great!
<asheesh>
AFK briefly for lunch; will read scrollback

asheesh : other than being another call for web apps over native (with Google's material branding all over it), does that page advocate any sort of new technology or capability?

<asheesh>
I *think* that "Service Workers" <https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2015/11/app-shell> are relatively new, and that Sandstorm web app authors could use this to provide a mobile-app-esque experience to users of a grain.

<asheesh>
The idea of "a music playing grain feels like a mobile app" is something I think my parents would appreciate, as they're in the market for a Sandstorm-based music player.
