DocScrutinizer05: second sim slot in neo900 can be used only for sim card, or there will be pc/sc interface and e.g. crypto smart card can be used too?
<DocScrutinizer05>
both slots can be used via modem and CPU
paulk-collins has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<DocScrutinizer05>
bith slots also have SWP support to NFC

<DocScrutinizer05>
there's a caveat that using CPU interface to any SIM will tell modem the SIM got removed, and modem sees SIM inserted when CPU stops accessing a SIM
<Pali>
hm... I was thinking about usage of openpgp smart card (for gpg2)
<DocScrutinizer05>
should be no problem
<DocScrutinizer05>
in CPU mode it works as a pretty basic generic cardreader
<DocScrutinizer05>
via GPIOs
<DocScrutinizer05>
we do _not_ support smatcard USB though (the outer 2 pins of SIM forfactor card)
<DocScrutinizer05>
the 7th and 8th pin that usually isn't even implemented on SIM cards

thinks... lots depends on proto_v2 testing, i guess that leads to the point of being able to produce a realistic 'path to completion' once thats happened
<DocScrutinizer05>
enyc: please elaborate
<DocScrutinizer05>
for a lot of aspects a N900 is a test platform closer to the final Neo900 hardware than proto_v2
<DocScrutinizer05>
IOW for proto_v2 we need to emulate a few GPIO via IOextenders (chips attached via I2C) which in final Neo900 design will be exactly same genuine SoC GPIO pins as in N900
paulk-collins has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
a few other functions can't be provided at all in proto_v2, e.g genuine access to proto's uSD holder
<enyc>
DocScrutinizer05: I'm thinking... for better/wider crowdsource/funding/buyers, will help if we can legitimately show a realistic 'path to completion' , costs, orders, etc etc... once proto_v2 been 'proven' sensibly
<DocScrutinizer05>
how900: http://neo900.org/resources says >>2016-06-22 IO Expanders<< however the recent version is of 20161231
<DocScrutinizer05>
enyc: of course
<enyc>
DocScrutinizer05: any idea when any chance of getting to that stage ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
ahycka is busy with the layout of proto_v2, with help of ceene. Once that's completed, we produce the boards and test them
<enyc>
layout really complex?
pagurus has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
hmm, not overly complex, just you first need to find your way around in the project, understand all the requirements etc, and get the prerequisites like footprints created/checked
<enyc>
aah yes
<enyc>
reminds me of soldering on SMD leds that were a bit big for the pads, no fun!
<DocScrutinizer05>
also place the components to the exact places. where needed
<DocScrutinizer05>
then we all (even ahycka) are sort of beginners with kicad
