<tuxillo> hi
<plaes> montjoie, jonkerj o/
<plaes> apparently wens's sunxi-next has fix for MMC timeout
<wens> huh?
<Kosaka-Honoka> I think it may be the issue of MMC missing pull-up?
<plaes> yes
<wens> oh yeah, we enabled mmc pull-ups by default, since it seems every board needs it one way or the other
<montjoie> if someone found the missing patch, it must be sent for 4.10rc

<KotCzarny> zoobab, what that would do system stability wise?
<KotCzarny> or its nothign risky?
<zoobab> nope it just activate the entries so that you can see them in /sys/class/gpio
<zoobab> you should see gpio252 for ex
<KotCzarny> would it pull them up/down or just export as named devices?
<beeble> it would reconfigure the pinmux to gpio input
<KotCzarny> so, could be dangerous? axp is also one of the gpiochips

<montjoie> (official stmmac, so non-h3/a64)
<KotCzarny> you should ask for specific boards i think
<KotCzarny> people often aren't aware what they have
<KotCzarny> also, a20 is also using stmmac
<montjoie> but in 100Mbit
<KotCzarny> my bpi-m1 reports gigabit
<KotCzarny> same for bpi-r1

<KotCzarny> montjoie: 860mbit when bpi-r1 is a server and 280mbit when its a client
<montjoie> ouch 280:)
<KotCzarny> kernel 4.9.0-rc3 and a bcm switch in between

<KotCzarny> if it happens to be the same as eth servicing one it drops to 190mbits
<KotCzarny> (my cpu is set to 720mhz btw)
<ErwinH> But still... 190mbits is slow.
<KotCzarny> it is enough for my (home) needs
<ErwinH> It's the same as with the H5 OrangePi PC2, with the driver/kernel from Xunlong it reaches 450mbit/s but with the driver from montjoie it runs at full speed (950mbit/s)

<willmore> ErwinH, sun8i-stmmac is a slight patch to a driver that exists in the kernel and is easy to get accepted mainline. sun8i-emac is a from scratch driver which reimplements support for an existing hardware and is unlikely to be accpeted into the kernel.

<montjoie> dgp: it is a modified version by allwinner
<montjoie> only the first register have the same use
<montjoie> but all packet descriptor are the same
<montjoie> in fact perhaps it is not a stmmac at all, but since packet mangement is the same...
<dgp> I'm asking really because that weird wifi chip on the orange pi zero is from ST. So I wonder if they are buying up stuff ST doesn't want anymore
<beeble> stmmac ist not from st
<willmore> dgp, it's a standard peripherial used in a lot of ARM chips and some MIPS as well. Also, some FPGAs.

<NiteHawk> ssvb: think that https://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-tools/pull/88/commits/95d8d239895a4beff936e41e198bd58d744a4e6b might justify implementing "memmove" (and thus merging #88)?

<plaes> montjoie, jonkerj: could you try the patch I posted on mailinglist on top of current mainline?
<KotCzarny> random thought: wifi/antenna of opi+2e is impressive, finding more networks than my thinkpad t500

<apritzel> plaes: thanks a lot for digging this out!
<apritzel> plaes: I was suspecting something like this, but was too lazy to spend time on a 32-bit board ;-)
<TheLinuxBug> KotCzarny: I noticed however putting the OPi Plus 2E in the OEM acryllic case as it doesn't have a hole to expose the antenna it actually cuts down reception a bit. I am considering a modification for the antenna
<KotCzarny> o.O
<KotCzarny> mine is just sticking out of abs box
<TheLinuxBug> ohh?
<TheLinuxBug> where at
<TheLinuxBug> right now its in the case for mine
<TheLinuxBug> I was previously using a 'handmade ' case but with my recent order finally got a standard case
<TheLinuxBug> ahh yes
<TheLinuxBug> you did something similar to what I did originally
<TheLinuxBug> ;p
<willmore> beeble, cool, thanks for the history.
<TheLinuxBug> I actually just got the acryllic case off the OPi store
<TheLinuxBug> and they don't provide a hole for the antenna
<KotCzarny> TheLinuxBug: that box also includes meanwell rs-50-5 psu
<KotCzarny> :)
<TheLinuxBug> ;)
<KotCzarny> and those white cables are from microamp (integrated audio baby)
<TheLinuxBug> im just using OPis provided DC cable
<KotCzarny> and go directly to speakers
<TheLinuxBug> ;D
<KotCzarny> 2x3W of rms power ;)
<KotCzarny> so i guess 200W of pmpo? ;)
<KotCzarny> wait. make it 500W pmpo ;)
<TheLinuxBug> hehe
<TheLinuxBug> finally got the h5 hooked up
<TheLinuxBug> meh
<TheLinuxBug> mmc is definently noticeably faster so smoother sdcard experience
<TheLinuxBug> but the images provided for it are quite lacking, am anxious for Armbian ;D
<TheLinuxBug> gonna test out the Android image after bit for fun
<TheLinuxBug> and of course the other half of the images are all on badiu and I can't download them without registering
<TheLinuxBug> like Debian XFCE image
<TheLinuxBug> meh
<beeble> last week i found chinese mobilephone as a service :)
<willmore> TheLinuxBug, I printed a case for the OpiZ that looks cute and has a little hole for the antenna.
<beeble> while looking for a way to register on a chinese forum
<willmore> TheLinuxBug, what H5 board?
<KotCzarny> opipc2
<KotCzarny> :)
<willmore> Oh, sorry, brain saw "emmc" instead of "mmc" and I thought it must be a different board.
