<KotCzarny> regarding yesterdays opi1 sale: Order Status : Refunded
<KotCzarny> swtf
<vpeter> to bad
<KotCzarny> but i still dont see anything on my pp balance
<vpeter> So it was a scam after all.
<KotCzarny> looks like
<KotCzarny> i guess they WILL send some boards to some users
<vpeter> few lucky ones
<KotCzarny> yeah, i was hoping for some cheap boards for my diy
<KotCzarny> hehe, now they are doing opi1 promo on gearbest for 12usd
<vpeter> saw that :)
<KotCzarny> and mind you, both sites have the same owner, figures. ;)
<KotCzarny> cnxsoft: why are my comments not showing up on the cnx-software?
<vpeter> It must be approved.
<vpeter> I got from gearbest. But CN22 form was incorrectly filled and I almost had to pay 4 or 5 € for this.
Putti has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
<KotCzarny> i ordered only one on gb promo, so it went under any tax
Mylene has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<cnxsoft> KotCzarny: which comment?
<KotCzarny> nick is 'kc'
Mylene has joined #linux-sunxi
<cnxsoft> I can't see any comments from "kc" in spam nor trash
<KotCzarny> hmm, maybe comments arent working with js disabled then
<KotCzarny> yup. enabling js made it work
<KotCzarny> (awaiting moderation tho)
<cnxsoft> OK. I have accepted your comment. My order is still being processed btw.
<KotCzarny> lucky you
<KotCzarny> keep in mind they had 300+ boards, so if they refund/process all of them it should take time (and they sell other things too so..)
Putti has joined #linux-sunxi
Putti has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<cnxsoft> Nobody will get the board: "We are extremely sorry to inform you that we experienced a system error regarding the Orange Pi One Learning Development Board. It shows wrong price on our website."
<KotCzarny> yup
<KotCzarny> just got the same email
<KotCzarny> in civilized countries all sales are final usually (unless seller/buyer can prove there was something independent happening. but seller f*ckups arent independent)
<KotCzarny> but at least they go with refunds, so they can continue that gray area marketing without much damage
<sunxi_fan1> expecially the point: "a trader is not allowed to make an invitation to purchase products at a specified price if he then refuses either to take orders for them or to deliver them within a reasonable time, with the intention of promoting a different product (‘bait and switch’)".
<sunxi_fan1> let's see what they think about.. :-)
<sunxi_fan1> i've got too the mail about the withdrawal of the order so i point them to the EU online purchase consumer rights:
<KotCzarny> but they are based in china
afaerber has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> so its up to customer to decide the risk
<KotCzarny> now, if they were selling/sending from .eu based location, things would be different
<KotCzarny> caveat emptor ;)
<jonkerj> EU law does not apply to non-EU countries, unless there is a specific treaty covering this
<KotCzarny> i wonder if there is such law in china too

<tkaiser> When I ordered my OPi One from Xunlong half a year ago it took 8 days and $13.50 (shipping included). This felt already wrong (way too cheap). And now people expect bulk orders for $3.70 each being a serious deal. Fascinating :)
<KotCzarny> tkaiser, stock clearances happen
<jelle> tkaiser: you may never know :D
<KotCzarny> and its not as if abusing anyone, seller throwing away the stuff is in worse situation than selling below profits
jukivili has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> BUT if someone makes a promo expecting people noticing, THEN saying 'sorry, just kidding', then its wrong
<KotCzarny> not to mention its not the first time
<tkaiser> KotCzarny: It will happen again and again since when 200 guys are busy ordering 10 devices each in check-out state entering their PayPal credentials to hit the 'buy' button then this is a slight overprovisioning of a few 1000 percent ;)
<tkaiser> Compared to the '50 items left' shown in the shop at the same time ;)
<KotCzarny> i hit mine when there were still 300 boards available according to the site, and it took more than hour to get down to 0
<KotCzarny> so i didnt order close to 0
<tkaiser> KotCzarny: Sure, but now they get through the orders, realize that they sold 700 for the low price and kick everyone out that ordered more than one :)
<KotCzarny> nope
<KotCzarny> they didnt
<KotCzarny> each sale lowered the promo count
<KotCzarny> so i call BS
<KotCzarny> also, i still have to see if they sent at least one board at that price
<KotCzarny> because in their email they claimed it was 'an error in price'
<KotCzarny> not 'overprovisioning'
<tkaiser> Anyway. All what I did expect was an error, an immediate refund or B-grade or even broken hardware which I won't return since 'too much hassles for this price'
kaspter has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> same here, that's why i went and clicked 'buy'
paulk-collins has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<tkaiser> To be honest: I hope my order gets cancelled too. I've not the slightest idea what to do with H3 device N¡18

<KotCzarny> smart home
<KotCzarny> or garage
<KotCzarny> especially that you discovered how low power it can go
<vpeter> tkaiser: Is there any video how soc is fried? If not you can make it with this sample :-)
kaspter has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> you cant fry allwinner easily, it will hang before ;)
<tkaiser> vpeter: Nope, for overvolting you need at least Orange Pi PC ;)
arete74_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<KotCzarny> tkaiser, what about hardware voltage mods? ;)
<KotCzarny> variable resistor connected to gpio ;)
arete74_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> s/connected/controlled/
<tkaiser> KotCzarny: That's a good point and something I wanted to look into for a longer time. Since H3 doesn't come with a PMIC at least on NaniPi NEO variation in DC-IN voltage seem to directly influence VDD_CPUX
<tkaiser> I realized that when replacing my usual 'crap' Micro USB cable with powering through GPIO pins there, the SoC started to throttle with sysbench.
<tkaiser> And the only difference I can imagine might be VDD_CPUX. With the crap cable I was well below 4.5V and when using GPIO pins above 5.1V.
<tkaiser> (bought a new multimeter in the meantime and now able to measure, just to lazy to repeat tests like this)
mcan has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> easy enough, connect 4.5V if its significantly different from 1.1/1.3 then you've found the reason
<jonkerj> would be interesting to measure voltage/current using an oscilloscope, tk
<tkaiser> jonkerj: Maybe for people who know how to deal with a scope (not me!) ;)
<KotCzarny> scope is easy
* jonkerj recently got a second scope to diagnose what's wrong with his first
<tkaiser> KotCzarny: Yeah, wait for the next flash sale on everybuy for $5 and then get a scope...
mcan has quit [Changing host]
mcan has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny> also, you can even get cheapo audio card connecting scopes to do some comparison tests with logging
<jonkerj> yeah, but sample rate is very limited
<KotCzarny> jonkerj, might be enough for such test
<jonkerj> gain can be tricked using resistors (or even instr.amps)
<jonkerj> sure
