How is redistribution for the mali blobs usually licensed? I see that ARM changed their EULA starting with the r6 line to allow redistribution of the blobs. How has it been or ealier versions?

<ssvb>
longsleep: it used to be tied to a specific SoC type or a specific board (on case by case basis) and, regarding redistribution, probably only legal as a part of the vendor firmware (created by the people who have signed NDA with ARM and have Mali DDK)
<ssvb>
I have not signed any NDA of this kind and have no further information
<longsleep>
ssvb: right, so how does this make the download available from Pine64 wiki without EULA? They have the signed it and thus can redistribute it even without EULA?
<longsleep>
Its a mess and i am wondering if it would be an approach to provide a script which downloads and extracts the blob from there

my guess would be that it is simply a typical Chinese habit to strip out copyright and license notices just in case, so that it is more difficult to track the origin of whatever they provide
<longsleep>
hehe yeah ..
<longsleep>
ssvb: btw i got their sunxi-drm driver running on framebuffer, but using anything libdrm just crashes with [ 35.725515] [drm:sunxi_user_fb_create] *ERROR* cannot use this gem memory type for fb.

basically, an attempt to initialize the desktop GLX based OpenGL flavor and the X server just being a bit too vocal about it
<ssvb>
if OpenGL ES works with EGL, then everything is fine

I had to remove all instances of libEGL*, libGLES* from the various library locations and then symlink them all to libMali.so, for es2_info to work
