<stbrtor> Is there a particular allwinner chip that is more power efficient? It seems the newer ones are at a smaller feature-scale but also have more cores so it's not completely obvious to me
<libv> stbrtor: the olimex guys were amazed at the difference in power draw between A10 and A20
<libv> A20 was amazingly more powerefficient

<Seppoz> lcd_power = port:PH07<1><0><default><1>
<Seppoz> this is what i want to toggle
<Seppoz> reset pin is hardwired
<Seppoz> but when i soft reboot the board lcd works
<Seppoz> so im sure if i can just repower it somehow or change the init procedure i can get it o work
<Seppoz> can i somehow manually toogle lcd_power
<Seppoz> i mean i cna ofcourse export it in the fex
<Seppoz> but thats not what i want
<ajeandet> Seppoz: It seems to be declared as GPIO: PH07<1><0><default><1>, so if you run linux just toggle it from user space.
jinzo has joined #linux-sunxi
<Seppoz> its not
<Seppoz> you can not toggle it from userspace unless you declare it for the gpio backend
<Seppoz> which ofcourse is possible but a pita

<Inode> Seppoz: what about physically disconnecting it and reattaching it, seeing as soft-control is too difficult?

<TheLinuxBug> and ideas?
<TheLinuxBug> hmm
<TheLinuxBug> seems to be related to USB hub I am using maybe it went bad
<TheLinuxBug> interesting
<TheLinuxBug> yep
<TheLinuxBug> plug in the usb hub and the whole board (BananaPi) freraks out and hard panics

<libv> vpeter: well...
<libv> they are not gpl violators, they did, in the end, respond, so their actions are pretty questionable though
<libv> they fully depend on sunxi for everything
<libv> and they definitely are $shitpi
<vpeter> At least they got one point from many.
<libv> i still need to attach pictures, upload the fex and a u-boot patch

<speakman> A20 only supports 4-wire resistive touch screens. Have you guys ever used 5-wire resitive screens? Our dedicated buyer at the company says the 4-wire ones are getting rare these days.
<orly_owl> yuck, why not use capacitive touch?
<speakman> orly_owl: That's also an option, but it's different from market to market. In our case, resistive is to prefer in many cases.
<orly_owl> hmm ok
<orly_owl> there is also infrared touchscreens, i think kobos have that
<speakman> We do Kiosks which sometimes is mounted in industrial environments where people use thick gloves.
<orly_owl> consider infrared
<speakman> Great tips, I'll forward it :)
<orly_owl> (:
<speakman> But have you ever got in touch with 5-wire resistive?
<orly_owl> "A major benefit of such a system is that it can detect essentially any input including a finger, gloved finger, stylus or pen."
<speakman> Sounds on the buyer guy it's more common than 4-wire, but I've never seen it before :D
<orly_owl> Unlike capacitive touchscreens, infrared touchscreens do not require any patterning on the glass which increases durability and optical clarity of the overall system.
<orly_owl> im not sure, the only resistive touchscreens ive used are really old 'smartphones' and store displays
