<cubietruck_user> Probably someone here can help me. I've a cubietruck with debian testing and u-boot 2015.10-rc2 and mainline-kernel 4.2.0 on sdcard. Cubietech Android on nand. I've booted Android and after that I cannot boot debian anymore. It stucks at "systemd[1] time has been changed" and I can't boot anymore. Has someone a hint?
<NiteHawk> cubietruck_user: does your cubietruck have an RTC? check if your u-boot supports the "date" command and if you're able to fix the date using that. i suspect your issue isn't related to linux-sunxi directly, but a more general problem of systemd - see e.g. https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/1143

<SimonSapin> Hi. I’d like to install Debian Jessie on a Banana Pi. I think I’ve managed to boot the installer from an SD card per https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Allwinner#Installing_from_an_SD_card_image , but it’s talking to the serial console. Any advice on connecting to that from a laptop? (Like what USB-to-serial adaptor to buy.) Alternatively, any advice to run it on HDMI or through SSH, or
<SimonSapin> even run the install on a laptop?
viccuad has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds]
<SimonSapin> If I understand correctly, the Debian says how to enable HDMI from the serial console, but that kinda defeats the point…

<jelle> does anyone know where the firmware extractor script is hosted now? http://linux-sunxi.org/GSL1680
domidumont has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<swiftgeek> hmm i have device with gslx680, though only board :D
<swiftgeek> mid08s/q8-v08
<swiftgeek> oh per device firmware :(
<swiftgeek> Is it this you looking for?
<swiftgeek> yup
<swiftgeek> commit hash matches
<swiftgeek> jelle: triggering your console bell/attention if you have any indicator :P
<swiftgeek> so sb with wiki access could perhaps fix the url
<swiftgeek> (and specify commit hash for easier googling)
<swiftgeek> jelle: if i was helpful maybe you can explain me few things about device trees :D

<swiftgeek> is leading & in node name always indicating that this name is an alias?
Netlynx has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<swiftgeek> and what is that magical <> doing especially in something like <&pio 6 0 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>
<swiftgeek> everything that was readable on topic was like intro into device trees :(
<mripard> <> is for numeric values
<mripard> &something is referring to a label called something
<mripard> (ie. the part before the : in a node name)
<mripard> and not an alias
<swiftgeek> yup, intro makes now much more sense
<swiftgeek> now i can rtfm more ;D
<swiftgeek> thanks
<mripard> you're welcome
<swiftgeek> can't wait till i understand enough to boot archlinux and don't destroy nand :D

<jelle> swiftgeek: ok, trying to get that driver compiled
* jelle should add his tablet to the wiki
* swiftgeek too
<swiftgeek> though i only have mainboard :>
<swiftgeek> it will make great battery backed server :D

<jelle> this driver I mean
<swiftgeek> i have just mainboard so i have no need to
<jelle> swiftgeek: ah ok
<swiftgeek> i just recognized the model from fex dump
* jelle tries
<swiftgeek> is your hardware similar to https://gist.github.com/swiftgeek/08f984ceda384d779329 ?
<jelle> second
<jelle> ehh
<swiftgeek> Q8!
<jelle> argh
<jelle> swiftgeek: yeah based / familiar

<swiftgeek> do you have device tree for that? :P
<swiftgeek> oh a33 totally different xD
<jelle> yes A33
<jelle> I wonder where march/irqs.h should live
<jelle> because my kernel tree does not have it
reinforce has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<jelle> swiftgeek: btw I discovered that the this can extract the fex file, but the script should be fixed.. https://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-tools/blob/master/script_extractor.c
<swiftgeek> hmm here i got few things
<jelle> swiftgeek: so yours just hangs on booting kernel?
<swiftgeek> something that was running from android, i think it was meminfo
<jelle> ah ok
<jelle> sounds like busybox
<swiftgeek> nah from sunxi-tools
<jelle> ah ok
<swiftgeek> had to recompile toolchain for lover kernel + glibc :D
<swiftgeek> *lower
<swiftgeek> there was also fel tool
<swiftgeek> and u-boot built-in stock fork that made usb mass storage gadget with fat partition containing everything
<swiftgeek> had issues with interpreting differences ^^
<swiftgeek> and i just want to make sure that NAND will stay intact
<swiftgeek> i'm not sure yet how to nicely dump flash of that thing ;D
<jelle> hmm me neither
<swiftgeek> i have no screen so not sure how live suit would work
<jelle> get serial?
<swiftgeek> yes, the board has everything
adj_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<swiftgeek> i'm just not sure how to do it nicely as i do not have screen (and so custom recovery)
<jelle> oh i see
<swiftgeek> otherwise i would just dump everything except /data and /system
<swiftgeek> and just make a tarball of system
<swiftgeek> i'm currently unemployed so at least i'm learning something
<jelle> aha ok. I'm just trying to get this tablet mainlined
<jelle> anyway now it's time for sleep
<swiftgeek> gnight then
