<PaowZ_> thanks rperier, that's a lot of interesting infos..
<PaowZ_> basically, I followed this tuto: http://radxa.com/Rock/Booting_Linux
<PaowZ_> which refers to a stable-3.0
<PaowZ_> I was about to try another kernel but it appears arm-gcc 4.8 (the one I installed) is known to produce bad binaries.. therefore I have to go for a 4.9..
<PaowZ_> I now have a pure distrib issue, since I'm running Ubuntu LTS 14.04 I don't have the right repos..I've changed those repos to get arm-gcc4.9 but it fails at retrieving because of crappy dependancies..
<PaowZ_> I have to figure this out, before any compilation..

<naobsd> PaowZ_: for mainline kernel, if you're using x86 ubuntu, you can use prebuilt gcc from linaro http://www.linaro.org/downloads/
<naobsd> PaowZ_: I'm using "linaro-toolchain-binaries 4.9 (little-endian)"
<PaowZ_> ok, thanks naobsd ;)
<naobsd> I also compile mainline kernel on ubuntu 14.04 armhf on RK3288. I'm using gcc-4.9 from here https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain-r/+archive/ubuntu/test
<naobsd> (later one is not cross gcc, I'm using arm gcc on arm ubuntu, it's native gcc for host)
<naobsd> I don't know cross gcc-4.9 package for ubuntu
<rperier> you can also build your own toolchain via yocto using "meta-toolchain" (if you have issues with the prebuilt one , I mean), but use the simpler solution :)
<PaowZ_> rperier: I'll be studying yocto shortly.. not too many things at one time ;)

<rperier> PaowZ_: yeah that's not trivial at the beginning, if you have any question feel free to ask ;)
<PaowZ_> thanks rperier and naobsd, folks that help others out are valuable for sure ;)
fleeky has joined #linux-rockchip
<rperier> PaowZ_: if you're interested, I might have trivial bugs for you to fix in the mainline kernel (for radxa)
<rperier> but take your time to know your hardware and the rockchip platform first :)
<PaowZ_> rperier: I might be indeed.. I have a great knowledge of C/C++ language and I'm leaving higher layers to dive into hardware stuffs and registers and init etc..
<PaowZ_> I used to work with OSE from Enea, real-time OS on arm..
<PaowZ_> got to modify some drivers, stuffs like that.. bought some books around linux kernel for embedded use..
<PaowZ_> but so much to achieve ;)
<fleeky> i am amazed at how bad the wireless works for the radxa
<fleeky> atleast in this ubuntu image that i am using, i need to start boning up the lower layers of this
<fleeky> has anyone managed to get a slackware arm distro going or anything like that ?

<PaowZ_> naobsd: is Linaro toolchain supposed to supply list
<PaowZ_> oops..
<PaowZ_> naobsd: is Linaro toolchain supposed to supply libstdc++ etc.. ?
<naobsd> PaowZ_: no idea for now. I think you can download & check it...
<naobsd> I think plain toolchain (not BSP etc) will not have a target rootfs
wildea01 has joined #linux-rockchip
<PaowZ_> :/
<naobsd> PaowZ_: why do you need libstdc++ etc? are you happy if it supplies incompatible libs for you?
<PaowZ_> naobsd: sorry, I don't get your last question.. I can't be happy for having unmet dependancies lol
<PaowZ_> no worries, btw, I found what was missing.. (it seems, so far, at least..)
<naobsd> PaowZ_: you asked about host libs for linaro gcc?
levd has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<naobsd> it should work on ubuntu
<PaowZ_> ok, actually, I untar linaro-arm-blablabla.. and after copying binaries into /usr/bin, calling arm-linux-gnueabihf-g++ sent me ""error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++: cannot open shared object file, blablabl"
<PaowZ_> then I "sudo apt-get install lib32stdc++6" and I could get version when typing "linux-arm-gnueabihf-g++ -v"
<PaowZ_> apologizes for annoying with noob issues :x
<wildea01> PaowZ_: for some reason, Linaro target 32-bit x86 hosts for the cross compilers
naobsd has quit [Quit: naobsd]
<PaowZ_> ok.. this seems so when looking at lib32stdc++ desc

<naobsd> mali lib for fbdev will be good, but why people think it makes everything perfect?
<naobsd> it just make OpenGLES possible for fbdev env (and OpenCL), that's all :)
<naobsd> I think using kernel part in chromium os will be easy. that is already updated to r5

<naobsd> there is mali kernel driver from rockchip in rayeager px2 kernel tree
<naobsd> maybe "from ARM"? not sure. at least that is not based from olegk0
<naobsd> I checked userland part, it seems it's still r3...
<naobsd> I'm asking about r4/r5 kernel and userland for x11/fbdev
