<postables1337[m]>
unfortunately I'm not sure how you would do that with docker
<postables1337[m]>
i believe there's some mount flag that you can tell the docker container where to pull the service.json file from

other than that though drbh, you basically just need to specify the user+pass that you want to authenticate with. I havent' actually tried the basic auth so that's about all i can say :/

Mikaela: Awesome project, I bet it's going to get used when matrix is mainstream
* Mikaela
means that single wiki page
<lintguy>
Oh
<lintguy>
hehe
<lintguy>
ipfs… hm where have i heard that before
<lintguy>
Riiiight, didn't cloudflare setup a public node for ipfs?
<lintguy>
(I actually got in here from JS channel just to find out what [m] meant because some user was curious)
<Mikaela>
How did you end up here instead of #matrix or #matrix-irc (the bridge support channel)? :O
<lintguy>
I had no idea this where matrix related :D
<lintguy>
He was asking what [m] meant and i guessed it was matrix
<lintguy>
sinclair
<lintguy>
18:11
<lintguy>
does anyone know what [m] means after its postfixed in a users name?

<rain1>
it means that person is a monster
<lintguy>
Hm, is ipfs like the freenode project?
<lintguy>
rain1: :-D
<lintguy>
No, not freenode.. hmm
Mikaela[m]10 is now known as Mikaela[meow]
<lintguy>
I mean freenet
<lintguy>
It was also distributed and p2p, but sloooow
<Mikaela[meow]>
(fixed)
<lintguy>
:-D
<lintguy>
Wow, freenet is still actively maintained
<lintguy>
That's impressive, I used that more than 12 years ago
<lintguy>
Geesh, it was even 14 years ago (v0.7), now i feel old :-(

<ion-cannon>
hello
<ion-cannon>
is there work being carried out to run ipfs inside the browser?
<ion-cannon>
some of the documentation suggests so, but im not clear on how much of ipfs works. In the browser case, does it need to proxy traffic through an ipfs node, or, can the browser run as a ipfs node itself?

olizilla[m]: what does it mean for a browser ipfs node tho?
<ion-cannon>
olizilla[m]: is it just a consumer of other ipfs nodes, or does the browser run some local storage and takes a role in persisting files ?
<olizilla[m]>
both, it runs as an ipfs node in the browser, it'll make outbound connections to nodes and does proxy content to get around the fact that it cant recieve inbound requests
<ion-cannon>
olizilla[m]: so it is proxying through nodes?
<ion-cannon>
olizilla[m]: there are ways for the browser to receive inbound requests tho, webrtc
