voker57: do you have a link to the github issue? I started using badger in the summer, and it's been working extremely well. That being said, always have backups. I've got 2 nodes with the repo as badger, debating whether i should have my 3rd node as badger, or flatfs in-case shit goes down. But IIRC it's been pretty stable for awhile now

I've got a totally noob question. Say I want to implement an app (say a blog) that stores data on IPFS with a certain degree of permanence. For that I'd have to set up my own node and store data there, right? Because nobody is going to duplicate and store data for me?
<ivanvp>
I find this a bit at odds with my understanding of IPFS philosophy. Isn't redundance one of the major selling points?
<ivanvp>
Does redundance come only when somebody explicitly pins content on another node?
<Swedneck>
you can pay for pinning of content
<Swedneck>
or you can make content that's so good that people volountarily pin it
<ivanvp>
Because with the setup of me running my own node and pinning the data upload to it just sounds like a centralized server
<ivanvp>
Swedneck: I see, I see
<Swedneck>
well let's use my site, linuxgaming.life, as an example
<ivanvp>
thanks. then perhaps an even more naive question. who could I pay for pinning my content? I haven't found a service like that in my (perhaps superficial) exploration
<Swedneck>
actually let's not
<ivanvp>
=)
<Swedneck>
because i just realized i redirect things via my server, so it's a bad example
<postables[m]>
Much better than eternum (no offense to eternum) but we're fully open sourced, run in our own datacenter as opposed to eternum which is run within AWS. We also allow for usage of IPNS, management of IPFS keys, pubsub, private networks, etc..
<Swedneck>
That's nuts
<postables[m]>
We're primarily API based, the web interface I linked to is basically a trimmed down service which runs ontop of the API

You seem to already have a subdomain, use it

postables: just checked out the link and it looks pretty cool. FYI when I try and download the "Welcome-To-Temporal.pdf" I just get a text file that say "404 page not found"

aschmahmann: thanks. Some of the functionality (mostly related to downloads and pinning) on the web interface is about 2 releases behind. Made a couple of API updates that broke web Interface functionality
