<panda84kde> Hi everybody
<panda84kde> is there a git repository of the Android kernel?
<panda84kde> I've found only outdate releases here: https://github.com/imx6-dongle/linux-imx
zeev234 has joined #imx6-dongle
<zeev234> Hi, is there a dongle that has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage?
<panda84kde> zeev234: internal storage is just a microSD card, you can easily replace it. Regarding 2GB versions I only know of Wandboard and Nitrogen6x i.MX6 / 2G versions.
<zeev234> I mean a dongle
<zeev234> there is RK3188 Cloudnetgo CR9 but is it possible to install Debian on it?
<zeev234> panda84kde: is it possible to install debian with gnome (accelerated graphics) on gk802 ?
<panda84kde> zeev234: generally everything outside of Freescale and to a lesser extent Allwinner is literally *awful* at Linux support
<zeev234> :(
<zeev234> I read that hi802 has an option for 16Gb storage but I can not find where I can buy it...
<panda84kde> actually the only ARM SOC caring for decent Linux support is Freescale. TI also was, but it is really losing ground. Allwinner A1x and A20 have good support, but mostly thanks to community
<zeev234> but no hi802 ...
<panda84kde> this one has 16 GB. However I repeat: they are two microSD cards slot, so you can put in whatever you want
<panda84kde> even 64GB I think
<zeev234> so I can regual gk802 and buy my own 16GB?
<panda84kde> not 64, but 32GB is possible
<panda84kde> Internal storage 8GB flash, provided via internal MicroSD
<panda84kde> External storage MicroSD, up to 32GB
<zeev234> Ok. gk802 seems to be half the price of hi802 - why that I read they are same
<zeev234> which company manufactures them? miniand?
<panda84kde> zeev234: yes miniand
<zeev234> hmmm so why do they sell it for $79.00 while geekbuying for 59$?
<zeev234> is it a scam?
<zeev234> panda84kde: is it possible to install debian with gnome (accelerated graphics) on gk802 ?
<panda84kde> zeev234: well... GK802 has no official support for it
<panda84kde> but i.MX6 has an Ubuntu with Unity3D working
<zeev234> ok
<zeev234> are there other dongles, except for gk/hi802? with freescale?
<panda84kde> however I don't know if GNOME Shell supports GL ES apis that are used in embedded chipsets
<panda84kde> zeev234: not that I know of

<hste> panda84kde: jas-hacks_ working on ubuntu 13.04 armhf. It has GPU support and he works on vpu.
<panda84kde> thanks hste. Is he starting from a recent branch (e.g. 3.0.35_4.1.0 or 3.10.9-1.0.0) or still based on 3.0.35_1.1.0 ?
<hste> panda84kde: its not dedicated for gk802, but I have made a 410 kernel and with his uboot it works on gk802
<hste> There is also a xbmc http://stephan-rafin.net/blog/2013/09/30/xbmc-for-utilite-cec-support-included/ and I have made a installerscript for installing it on gk802, but it need a better cooling solution than default it uses kernel 3.0.35_4.0.0.http://stende.no-ip.info/files/xbmc/mkxbmc.sh
<panda84kde> hste: Is that kernel from Freescale source or does it have some patches?
<hste> its based on that with the extra gk802 stuff
<panda84kde> hste: any git for the source?
<panda84kde> hste: thanks. Any plan to merge into imx6-dongle repo?
<hste> and patched with the yocto patches, so drivers/mxc/gpu-viv is a bit newer than those in that git
<hste> I don't think there is anyone working on that now. its mostly uboot that need a newer version
<panda84kde> hste: any major shorcoming in the current code?
<hste> the newer kernel uses dts and thats not in the uboot version for gk802
<hste> but as long as u can use3.0.35_ 4.1.0 its ok
<panda84kde> yeah. 3.5.7 and 3.10 are still alpha

<JoergSH> hey hste
<hste> hi
<JoergSH> bt works on android also not realy
<JoergSH> so i will setup linux ;)
<hste> jas-hacks_: I have made a installer of your rootfs for gk802: http://stende.no-ip.info/files/mkubuntu.sh
<hste> JoergSH: Do you have a powered usbhub?
<JoergSH> yes hste
<hste> then it should be ok to install linux. gk802 might have to little power for usb to attach more devices
<JoergSH> i could drive it via usb hub when i plug a 4 amp supply
<JoergSH> how to open the dongle?
<hste> you have to remove the 2 screws in the end of dongle, When to drag of the cover be a litllebit careful to not damage the antennawires
<hste> have to go. I'll be back later
JoergSH_ has joined #imx6-dongle
<JoergSH_> ok that works

<JoergSH_> no external sd
<hste> JoergSH_:1080 or 720?
<JoergSH_> ok i think the board don't like my usb hub
<hste> is the hub powered by external powersource?
<JoergSH_> in the bootscript?
<hste> yes
<JoergSH_> i use the precompiled bootscript from jason, i think the are empty
<JoergSH_> yes the usb hub is powered external
<hste> JoergSH: You could try http://stende.no-ip.info/files/mkubuntu.sh
<JoergSH_> no everything runs
<JoergSH_> the kernel don't like my touchscreen

<JoergSH_> hste: are you there?
<hste> yes
<JoergSH_> i just add setenv video 'mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24' to the boot script and compiled
<JoergSH_> but x still has the small resulution
<hste> have u checked in dmesg if the bootcmd is passed to kernel?
<JoergSH_> dmesg?
<hste> yes if u run dmesg in console u should see the kernelboot

eebrah has joined #imx6-dongle
<hste> in the start it should have a line with the bootline where the mxcfb0:dev...... should stand
<hste> if the kernel is compiled without passing the command from uboot it will not change fb
<hste> JoergSH_:it should start with: Kernel command line
<hste> JoergSH_:Mine is Kernel command line: console=ttymxc3,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rootwait rootfstype=ext4 video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24 fixrtc consoleblank=0
<JoergSH_> setenv video 'video=mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1920x1080M@60,if=RGB24 fixrtc'
<JoergSH_> i have tried now

<hste> if u try the script http://stende.no-ip.info/files/mkubuntu.sh it will make a ready image on sdcard or usb
<JoergSH_> ok i try that

<jas-hacks_> hste: no just the binaries blobs
<otavio> jas-hacks_: yes, I told you :D
