yes those are for nand. http://linux-sunxi.org/Cubieboard2_wheezy_image is for sd. I don't think a cubie1 kernel will work on cubie2, but gimme and minute and I'll try and check one to be sure to be sure ;)

the nand is 4gb the sd can be whatever size you want upto 32gb

cubie2 is not going to boot with a cubie1 kernel (tried with cubie1 and cubie2 script.bin and all sane vairants of options). just hangs at "Calibrating delay loop". and that was me trying with an supporting a20 u-boot (which a cubie1 image wouldn't have)

a20 kernel support hasn't even made it to linux-sunxi normal kernel's yet (afaik, only in the last few days if it has), neither 3.0 or 3.4, so you are "stuck" with the ~vendor 3.3 kernel

generally, one can run an SMP kernel on a single core machine without ill effects (apart from unnecessary use of a bit of RAM)
