grog: you can, generally, open a file manager, nagigate to .apk files and install them by "clicking". So if you can get them on another device, you can install them to cubieboard from there. if your device "unsupported" because of lack of, say, sensors or other incompatibility, that won't help, of course.

or iow yes it can run mainline ... but _very_ limited hardware support (e.g. if you want a root filesystem rather then just an initramfs your only option is to patch in the ethernet driver from net-next and use nfs or nbd for your rootfs)
