<AnthonyMalczanek> so, is the final design of the neo900 going to include the resistive multitouch chip? I remember recommending a chip a while back, and I'm wondering if that's still in the final design
<DocScrutinizer05> yes, of course
<DocScrutinizer05> CRTouch10
<DocScrutinizer05> ~bd
<DocScrutinizer05> this block diagram is *really* great, check the hover popups and the links to datasheets and more info in them
<AnthonyMalczanek> Oh, I see it. "Touch scrn ctrl" (CRTOUCHB10) connecting I2C #2 and the main flex connector connecting to the LCD. Awesome!
<AnthonyMalczanek> I can't wait to get one.
<DocScrutinizer05> btw we even "donated" the crtouch to pyra
<AnthonyMalczanek> who/what is "pyra"
<DocScrutinizer05> dragonbox pyra
<DocScrutinizer05> palmtop linux gaming console
<DocScrutinizer05> in many aspects it's our sister project
<AnthonyMalczanek> holy crap, i'm going to have to buy so many things lol
<AnthonyMalczanek> it's definitely an amazing complementary device to the neo900
<AnthonyMalczanek> Someone should definitely build a nice 11 inch screen that has a battery built-in and a keyboard/mouse connected to it, that can be disconnected and replaced with the dragonbox pyra or the neo900 (snaps in where the keyboard/mouse unsnapped) and allows the user to have a tablet driven by the neo/pyra (or both!! obv not at the same time) that can also be used with the keyboard/mouse
<AnthonyMalczanek> just thinking
<AnthonyMalczanek> brb

<Arch-TK> Yeah...
<Arch-TK> I was wondering where I would get the money for all of that.
<AnthonyMalczanek> screen + controller with hdmi input would be about $100-$150, a battery would be about $20 or so (<3china!!!), charger circuit would be a few bucks, keyboard/mouse are cheap (Alibaba <3china!!!) and the case can be 3d printed in small qty or PIM for large qty
<AnthonyMalczanek> development is basically buying a bunch of crap, not really anything like doing a complex device like the neo or pyra, and building is just time consuming.. it would be nice if enough people wanted them to warrant a large production run
<AnthonyMalczanek> def could be done for about $250 BOM and sold for $350+

<DocScrutinizer05> alas we have no HDMI (or any other native HD video) interface on OMAP3
<DocScrutinizer05> what we got is plain CVBS which is defined on for PAL/SECAM/NTSC resolutions, and we have a focus on supporting USB DisplayLink
<DocScrutinizer05> probably DisplayLink isn't suited for video (movie) playback
paulk-nyan-big has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05> s/defined on /defined only /
<DocScrutinizer05> CVBS works considerably convenient (as in "sufficient quality") for a portable videoplayer, e.g I used that several times during holidays and business trips in hotels
<DocScrutinizer05> for desktop usage the displaylink approach seems promising
<DocScrutinizer05> a 1280*1024 or somesuch should be feasible
<DocScrutinizer05> e.g. for libreoffice
<DocScrutinizer05> mouse/kbd you either attach via USB (hub) or via BT
sixwheeledbeast has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05> with a USB Y-cable you also charge the Neo900 while attached to arbitrary number of USB peripherals lile DL-adapter/mouse/kbd/HDD
<DocScrutinizer05> like*
<DocScrutinizer05> with 1GB RAM and a 1GHz ARM cortex-A8 CPU you should have enough "power" to run arbitrary office apps
<DocScrutinizer05> wpwrak: http://neo900.org/stuff/papers/ir.pdf p.10 s/ a pull-up resistor overriding R7 (see section 8) is added to the RX line. / the RX-line is driven at sufficiently low impedance (pull-up resistor or pushpull output) to override the signal via R7 /

<DocScrutinizer05> actually it been the rationale of this "wired-OR" that a usual tristate output could override the IR-RX (and IR-TX)
<DocScrutinizer05> note that even the SoC could override the IR-RX signal to substitute the hw IR receiver e.g. by a CPU audio circuit based sw solution, when user has attached some HB-extension that exploits the device's IR receiver functionality
<DocScrutinizer05> likewise the HB-extension can override the the hw IR receiver e.g. when the extension implements some more capable physical IR detector
<DocScrutinizer05> in the latter case the device IR UART input gets the signal from HB-extension without noticing a difference. In former case the device IR UART input would be reconfigured as output - thus overriding the receiver by switching the tristate property of the pin to low-Z
merlin1991 has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05> hmm, the note about CPU override of IR-RX obviously depends on SoC's capabilities on that particular ball/pin. It needs generic GPIO tristate to do so
<DocScrutinizer05> all three pinmux alternatives AD23 / Y20 / H24 for uart3_rx_irrx anyway have alternative generic LV-GPIO on other pinmux modes
<DocScrutinizer05> so that's warranted
