<Encryptr>
Hi guys and gals. I have a question
<Encryptr>
I want to have https://apps.encryptr.net be where my Sandstorm.io self-hosted version instead of at Sandcats.io
<Encryptr>
I get an error that says this:
<Encryptr>
If you were trying to configure static publishing for a blog or website, powered by a Sandstorm app hosted at this server, you either have not added DNS TXT records correctly, or the DNS cache has not updated yet (may take a while, like 5 minutes to one hour).
<mrdomino>
but just not-dumb enough that i'm willing to put it on a server
<mrdomino>
server-sent events it ain't yet, but it's at least not short-polling
<zarvox>
in my experience, you might actually want to make the long-polling early-return after N seconds (where N is maybe 30, 60, or 120?) to help detect network disconnections/lost requests - otherwise you might sit there waiting for a reply to come back forever

Also on mobile networks, network connections are often dropped or timed out by the network operator after a long enough period of inactivity

Things I learned in a past life as an intern at imo.im!
<mokomull>
Hey, I know that place :)
<mokomull>
zarvox: heck, even in the datacenter environment, setsockopt(TCP_KEEPALIVE) is vital to avoid deadlocks.
