I'll probably have another patchset up this week or next to allow admins to specify 1) that TLS is required and 2) a custom CA cert, but that really needs to be something that users opt into explicitly, rather than something that suddenly breaks email delivery for a bunch of users.
<mokomull>
zarvox: I would probably be a little more forceful than opt-in, at least in the long-term. But yes, it does have to be something that's release-note'd rather than accidental.

zarvox: Do admins get to specify their CA bundle today, or do we just inherit the state-sponsored CAs from the distribution's environment.
<zarvox>
mokomull: today, admins get whatever we ship in the sandstorm bundle, which might be the empty set?
<zarvox>
or it might be whatever meteor/node ship by default

my plan is to provide you a textarea into which you can paste your PEM-encoded CA cert if you want to pin one in particular or use one that's not in the usual browser bundles, and can fall back to some "upstream" CA bundle otherwise
<dwrensha>
heh, and now there's someone on sandstorm-dev hitting the same problem
<dwrensha>
hmm it's a "connection timeout", which sounds maybe different

I'm trying setting up a mailgun free tier account now myself
<dwrensha>
fwiw, I use mailgun and nothing broke for me
<zarvox>
I was able to configure a new email self-test
<zarvox>
oh wait, I'm running the branch with my patchset
<zarvox>
still works. Someone else on the mailinglist mentioned that they had issues if they were using a custom domain, though, so maybe I'll fiddle with that

Lord: FYI we've pushed an emergency release rolling back the new TLS restrictions. You'll get the update within 24 hours, or you can do `sudo sandstorm update` to get it now. Please let me know if it helps / doesn't help.

Lord: glad to hear it; thanks for reporting your issue :)
<shachaf>
(Not personal or related to this email in particular, I just realized that I don't really use Sandstorm right now and I don't want to sell my soul for 1GB. I'd rather get Sandstorm news via other channels.)
<asheesh>
Oh, dear! Broken unsubscribe is bad.
<ocdtrekkie>
shachaf: That's what most of us Gmail users sold our soul for back in 2006!
<asheesh>
Thanks for the report to us first rather than the FTC first. I did just call someone on the phone an hour ago and threaten to call the FTC if they didn't stop sending my email.
<asheesh>
ocdtrekkie: that was back when there were high interest rates, before the housing crash
<asheesh>
s/sending my email/sending me email/
<shachaf>
I used the unsubscribe link in the email instead. It seemed to work.
<asheesh>
bd
<shachaf>
ocdtrekkie: Pft, I sold my soul to Gmail in 2004.
<shachaf>
And then again in 2013.
<ocdtrekkie>
I honestly am not sure what year it was I got my account.
<ocdtrekkie>
Is there an easy way to find your first email?
<shachaf>
My first email had the subject "Gmail is different. Here's what you need to know."
<asheesh>
Huh
<asheesh>
Maybe we should precreate a Sandstorm grain with that title, but s/Gmail/Sandstorm/
<shachaf>
Anyway, GBs have been subject to severe inflation.
<ocdtrekkie>
I didn't keep that email shachaf :/
<ocdtrekkie>
That's what I get for deleting assumed to be useless welcome emails.
<ocdtrekkie>
4/6/2005 appears to be the oldest item in my all mail folder
<shachaf>
Did Gmail even support deleting emails back then?
<shachaf>
Anyway this is maybe off-topic here.
<ocdtrekkie>
Gmail always supporting deleting emails as long as I used it. I know they tried to snuff out email deletion a few times by hiding the delete button in a dropdown menu or such, but they never got away with it before people demanded it back.
<ocdtrekkie>
supported*

my guess is we're somehow relying on the "event" global being defined during an event callback

Found it, I'll file a fix in blackrock.
<phildini>
Is it currently possible to pay y'all some amount of money to get "Sandstorm for Business" on Oasis?
<zarvox>
Not at present. Is that something your org is interested in?
<phildini>
Probably? I'm in an org that's trying hard _not_ to host our own servers, but still really likes sandstorm as an idea.

phildini : I'm new to this channel, but when I was testing Sandstorm I used digitalocean and followed the...3 lines of CLI instructions sandstorm had
<phildini>
sure, but pretend that we want to pretend servers don't exist, and still want to use sandstorm for business.
<Aurelius_Work2>
understandable

I'm actually vacillating between a bunch of different stacks for 'life as a project management exercise'

hmm... looking at https://sandstorm.io/business, am I correct in saying that the only thing SS for business offers right now is ldap integration?
<zarvox>
LDAP + SAML integration, organizational user management, priority support, and whitelabelling are currently available only through Sandstorm for Work
<phildini>
oh so the organizational user management is there? because a lot of things are listed as "Coming soon" on the site.
<asheesh>
The update will take me 5-15 more min, but it's somewhat minor I believe.
afuentes has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]

fwiw, it took me multiple readings to understand what the "Organization Management" section was saying, but I don't have real suggestions for making that better.
<asheesh>
Yeah, I'm in the process of attempting to rephrase it : )
