<whitequa1k> DocScrutinizer05: http://lgdnewsroom.com/press_releases/2806
<DocScrutinizer05> hmm?
<DocScrutinizer05> \o/ flexible
<wpwrak> boring. how long until they make them elastic ?
<DocScrutinizer05> haha
<DocScrutinizer05> 0.44mm thin
<wpwrak> phat

<DocScrutinizer05> >>019. LG Display plans to advance flexible display technologies and bring innovation to consumers’ daily lives with the introduction of **rollable** and **foldable** displays in various sizes<<
<DocScrutinizer05> no damn silly projector :-D
<wpwrak> fold, then pass over it with the fingernail to make a neat edge ;-)

<DocScrutinizer05> press the button, then take a hammer and hit it to make sure it's completely pressed down
<DocScrutinizer05> I think roll-out displays are the future
<DocScrutinizer05> we even had some rather futuristic design study somewhere in neighbourhood of OM, that been based on exactly this idea. A spindle-shaped object with a small gandle to pull out a display to the side

<DocScrutinizer05> wrist-watch alike smart devices with all surface just display is another design concept that matches nice with flexible OLED
<wpwrak> better: make them (")simply(") flexible and robust. maybe like a thin mouse pad.
<DocScrutinizer05> dang, I can't recall where I've seen this thingie with the pull-out display
<DocScrutinizer05> wpwrak: I think a "flexible" smartphone been demonstrated during last 12 months on some fair
<wpwrak> that was philips (or maybe NXP)
<wpwrak> (the pull-out display)
<DocScrutinizer05> maybe they released a note about that stuff, but I don't see this gnoki-shaped thing with the handle on one side to pull out the display, when I think NXP/Philips
<DocScrutinizer05> might have been the site logo of one of the OM resellers
<DocScrutinizer05> or some forum or whatever
<wpwrak> they sold the division later to, i think PDI
<DocScrutinizer05> yeah, the one I meant was working exactly like this, but the lefthand "main" body been shaped roughly like a spindle or gnoki
<DocScrutinizer05> and the whole thing been a drawing
<DocScrutinizer05> but, yeah, that's exactly what I believe is the future of handheld/embedded
<wpwrak> seems clumsy. i'd rather have a sheet that doesn't come with fancy mechanics
<DocScrutinizer05> the mchanics are not visible when done right
<wpwrak> keep them morlocks in their caves :)
<DocScrutinizer05> it's just about how to carry a 12" screen in your pocket
<wpwrak> she does not look happy
<DocScrutinizer05> sure, i'd also not look happy when I had to read stuff on a transparent glass plate
<wpwrak> shrink google glass ?
<whitequark> couldn't find an animated sequence--it's exactly the pull-out thing you're talking about
<whitequark> when it's folded, it looks like a bluetooth headset
<whitequark> life imitating art :p

<whitequark> DocScrutinizer05: I wonder about that 0.5mm thick OLED display. won't it be somewhat transparent?
