Hi clacke_movim :)
<clacke_movim>
Hi :-)
<clacke_movim>
Did your routing issues resolve yet?
<Regenaxer>
Yes, miraculously it worked again this morning ;)
<clacke_movim>
Internet happens
<Regenaxer>
hehe
<clacke_movim>
Am I understanding correctly that you have IPv6 at home?
<Regenaxer>
Both 4 and 6
<clacke_movim>
Very cool
<Regenaxer>
I'm aware only of the IPv4 address, it is fixed
<clacke_movim>
In Sweden it is easy to find an ISP that offers real IPv6 (Bahnhof), but hard to find last-mile transit (municipal network, ADSL) that accomodates it.
<clacke_movim>
In HK I haven't even bothered trying. ISPs here are very corporate retail type, impossible to talk to anyone who understands how internets work.
<Regenaxer>
yeah
<clacke_movim>
Back in 2012 it was fun to notice that if I tunneled over IPv6 (usung Teredo) I got unfairly prioritized and had much better speed to my Swedish servers. Sadly that got fixed.
<clacke_movim>
I wish Teredo were used more, it works really well as long as your ISP announces the anycast for it.
<clacke_movim>
In Sweden usually the anycast will be in Amsterdam, so that's a bit silly.
<clacke_movim>
Even with uncooperative local networks, ISPs could offer good IPv6 over IPv4.
<clacke_movim>
My off-site backup is a laptop in my parents' room. I connect to it over TOR hidden service, find out its teredo address, then connect over teredo at near-IPv4 speed, smashing the two NATs in between.
