Regenaxer, beneroth: ulimit has hard and soft limits. Once set, a hard limit cannot be raised. So if a hard limit is set in init, you need to adjust the init script.

On my Ubuntu machines all hard limits are still unlimited, I believe. But I haven't made a fresh install newer than latest LTS, possibly previous LTS
