atk : I think that connections to LEDs are designed in such a way that it is impossible to burn them out. For extra complication, there could be a red LED which indicates when a particular part of circuit is burnt out?

DocScrutinizer05: On a desktop x86 motherboard, the speaker is usually connected to a header so no desoldering is required to disconnect the speaker. Some motherboards, such as my MSI Socket A motherboard, have a speaker on the motherboard itself, though, so maybe that is what you were referring to?
