and particularly a war against the freenode ops
<DocScrutinizer05>
scropt kiddie got rejected to become member of freenode staff (suuure, we need such operators) and now fights all frenode staff any way available
<houkime>
better they give him some entry tasks then to educate or to lower expectations. Manpower is precious.
<houkime>
kids are especially precious because they can become basically anyone.
<DocScrutinizer05>
I'd not want a racist botnet owner freenode staffer

Meh, people can do any sorts of bad and stupid stuff. Part of the freedom. It's a duty of a good recruiter to find a place for everyone for them to be both entertained and useful. Unless the job is paid it is almost always profitable in the end. Same thing as with education and why investment in people always pays back.

omg, you don't suggest freenode or - for that purpose - any company including Neo900 UG should "employ" _everybody_ that comes asking for whatever position?
<DocScrutinizer05>
do you?

"hey you're a troll annoying and insulting people in this channel since ages, but since you asked so nice ("hey idiots, I'd be a better sysop than any of you! hire me!") we will find a position for you"
<DocScrutinizer05>
makes no sense
<houkime>
Not really like that. As I mentioned this stands for unpaid enthusiastic labor. And there is a number of places with limited responsibility where a man can't really do damage. For example, reviewed commits to the codebase.
<houkime>
Would you reject working commits from troll just because he is a troll? I wouldn't.
<DocScrutinizer05>
this guy never will send any commit
<DocScrutinizer05>
and if they did, I'd lock such commit in the vault for toxic substances ;-)

It's quite funny how such people can transform when put to work they themselves consider interesting. We did many social practices with children at my institution, and for sure there were trolls. But at the end they very often picked up some interesting stuff for themselves and did it quite successfully.
<houkime>
It is often just sheer boredom as it seems.
<DocScrutinizer05>
while I generally agree, I think this is rarely applicable on IRC. Or in internet at large, where people enjoy perceived anonymity to act like morons
<DocScrutinizer05>
and racist mindset you won't cure by employment therapy anyway
<houkime>
Man, this was not a real racist mindset. There was no mind in what was written above whatsoever. It really seems more like a kid (not necessarily by age) playing with a botnet.
<houkime>
I remember one guy found a primitive exploit in a computer classroom and spammed fellow students with sth like "you're screwed, I am a hacker, mwahhahaha". Now he works as a researcher, although it never seemed like he ever enjoyed it really.
<DocScrutinizer05>
well, read this and then tell me more of how to turn trolls into useful members of IRC society - http://susepaste.org/54855444
<DocScrutinizer05>
I'd not surprised if it is that guy with his botnet
<houkime>
Well, if there's a doubt one really wants to perform a job, you give one a safe (for you) opportunity to do so, and then when he doesn't use it forget about what happened.
<houkime>
This is a different situation from being sad/angry from being turned down. It is a scenario when a man _wanted_ a war.
<houkime>
If a man wants a war there is literally nothing you can do about it.
<DocScrutinizer05>
this guy always wanted war. That's why he gets a botnet
<DocScrutinizer05>
that's why he's using it to spam FN
<houkime>
I really doubt that he is just one troll. If we compare yesterday attack ("one of the servers was compromised") and today, they are entirely different level.
<DocScrutinizer05>
yeah, there are two, one extremely stupid one and a slightly wittier one
<DocScrutinizer05>
today was the stupid
<houkime>
They are both not serious about it though. Having some fun. At least one of them probably a kid. No real concern at least for now. Gonna sleep.
