I can offer FF. I won't go for chromium, too googly
xman1 has joined #neo900
<wpwrak>
yes, ff should be fine
<pigeons>
no i wont use chromium either. it seems almost impossible to build from source. and that downloads a binary blob that turns on your microphone all the time thing was the last straw
<wpwrak>
my microphone is two mechanical switches away from any prying ears :)
<wpwrak>
(not by design. just happens to be like that.)

DocScrutinizer05, wpwrak: hrrm first line doesn't elaborate if that statement is true even without paypal-$*&%$%up ... in effect it seews to e starting off with very negative stance somehow =)
<enyc>
number of orders... including those sent via paypal ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
enyc: we're at 300some now, our calculations based on 500
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, incl those sent by PP
<DocScrutinizer05>
which gives you an idea about how tough our situation is right now with the PP mess still lingering on
<DocScrutinizer05>
we calculated the down payment for a 500 preorders and the amount of funds we need to reach production-ready. Now we're at X * (300/500) * 0.4_PP-factor
<DocScrutinizer05>
plus the whole PP thing ate quite some time, and time is money
<DocScrutinizer05>
we're not dead. But we need to do something
pozitrono has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
we had a certain safety margin in the down payment calculation. But a 3/5*0.4 factor is way beyond any such safety margin
<DocScrutinizer05>
my immediate plan is to work towards proto_v2 and hope for PP getting resolved in time and a working v2 to show off will attract more customers, so we will reach the 500 at least, shortly after proto_v2 showoff. This is however slow and risky
<DocScrutinizer05>
and again, time is money
<DocScrutinizer05>
our funds (without PP) would just allow finishing proto_v2 if I do all the R&D like layout etc, instead of Nikolaus
<DocScrutinizer05>
I really should push dos1 to re-enable the "Donation" link on our website, hoping for a generous supporter with deep pockets
<dos1>
DocScrutinizer05: if the content doesn't change from what it was earlier, I can do it right now :P
<DocScrutinizer05>
go ahead
<DocScrutinizer05>
except for the tiny change in wording, nothing will change really. Obviously we don't want PP donations any more though
<DocScrutinizer05>
yeah I know. But nobody else does
<DocScrutinizer05>
the wording on this page looks OK to me. All that's missing is a link on frontpage
<DocScrutinizer05>
and the advertised "page of fame"
<DocScrutinizer05>
walter ultimately asked for such page of fame almost a year ago
<DocScrutinizer05>
wait, lemme review this once more

enyc: as DocScrutinizer05 has pointed out, the beauty of that sentence is that the paypal situation does not affect its veracity ;-)
<wpwrak>
enyc: that's because the calculations there are for the overall project finances, and PP is a just a fraction of that. PP is a headache on its own, though, since it affects the project's short-term liquidity.
<wpwrak>
enyc: the big-picture problem is that we need more orders. the projected ~300 are even well below the "no margins" estimate from may, and that was before PP and cccamp2015.
<wpwrak>
(may) i.e., 500
<wpwrak>
so that's what that possible crowdfunding campaign would be about: bring in a bit of a crowd.
