Oksana: the joy of SEPA banking. in europe, and especially in germany, you can charge someone else's account if you just know the account number
<wpwrak>
Oksana: and the one charged has to become active to undo that. else the money is gone.
<Wizzup_>
it's almost like with CCs
<wpwrak>
Oksana: as you can see, they found a great way of taking most of the hassle out of bank robbery ;-)

sepa...biggest challange for people that liked numbers
<Oksana>
SEPA... Is it different from elsewhere, or is it everywhere? I thought that knowledge of bank numbers only allows to transfer in, not out...

<wpwrak>
Oksana: in most of the places it's like that. but in EU (or at least Germany, dunno if it's that easy elsewhere in SEPA land, too. e.g., i have an account in .ch, which also is part of SEPA, and never had anything like this happen), they really made it bidirectional
<wpwrak>
of course, having a widely published account number "helps" with such things
<DocScrutinizer05>
And I'm done now for good with printing out inbound email invoices for the last year, after 5h
<DocScrutinizer05>
and I have a good excuse actually: the toner in my printer is gone
<wpwrak>
:)
<DocScrutinizer05>
still I love email invoices. All paper invoices have a tendency to dissolve into vapor and smell
<DocScrutinizer05>
I just wonder why others like our accountant don't prefer data over paper prints
<wpwrak>
i like the paper ones. they go on a well-defined pile and stay there. easy to find when the time comes for the annual returns :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
depends on number and stability of your piles ;-)
<DocScrutinizer05>
time for COOOOFFEEEE
* DocScrutinizer05
sighs
<DocScrutinizer05>
particularly funny: when people send all their invoices to mailaccount A, except one which they send to B. Now when a lazy guy like me doesn't immediately save the attachments to the invoices-in dir, good luck with finding that email a few months later

SEPA works (at least) in EU, it's not specific to germany
<bencoh>
same goes for the "bidirectional" property
