maybe it's because it brings up regulators cleanly before resetting the SoC, and that board's hardware power sequence is not good

is the ureliability experienced in U-Boot or Linux? crust gets run at the very end of U-Boot (during booti/bootm/bootz), so none of its register writes would be applied for U-Boot. but they _would_ be applied for Linux even for first boot
