<MetalOS-x64>
Hello, I am looking to bring up my 'new' device, I've been all through the wiki, but I'm definitely just missing a big chunk of something somewhere.
<MetalOS-x64>
It's a Nextbook Ares 10a (NX16A10132SPS) with the Allwinner A64. A member of the Pine64's Telegram group tells me it's got DDR3(L) DRAM. Please let me know of any info I should provide.

nevermind, I'm stupid and forgot to /sbin/ldconfig -v
<PPA>
The zpos problem is still there though. I'd like to try it on a different system but Armbian either doesn't build or doesn't boot on 5.11 on my Pine H64 B right now

PPA: perhaps you could share something with me, run your pipeline with "GST_DEBUG=kms*:7" gst-launch-1.0 ... 2> gst.log
<ndufresne>
you could put that log in a paste bin for me
<ndufresne>
if you can accompany with the output of modetest, that could be handy
<ndufresne>
I could try and see what is different / special about H6, I'm using an H3 here, so we are not comparing apple to apple
<ndufresne>
for the exploding jelleyfish, I can reproduce, so its just about me finding the time to fix it
<PPA>
I'm using an H3 too (I tried to experiment on H6 but couldn't because Armbian + 5.11 doesn't work on that yet)
<ndufresne>
I guess the logs might help still
<PPA>
yeah, on it
<ndufresne>
cool cool
<PPA>
Where does the GST_DEBUG=kms*:7 go in the command? Before or afer the !, or after a second !?
<PPA>
oh, as --gst-debug
<ndufresne>
can be prepended to bash, GST_DEBUG="kms*:7" gst-....
<ndufresne>
it will be passed as env, but --gst-debug is good too
<ndufresne>
if you want to be cool like in movies, export GST_DEBUG=9, that should through an infinit amount of logs ;-P
<PPA>
:P
<ndufresne>
note that the traces are on stderr, the reason I do 2> gst.log to save it to file
<PPA>
This is after using modetest to correct the plane

PPA: need to fix something in your call to gst-play, the videosink is specified with --videosink
<ndufresne>
so gst-play-1.0 --use-playbin3 --gst-debug="kms*:7" --videosink="kmssink plane-properties=s,zpos=3" Jellyfish_1080_10s_30MB.mp4
<PPA>
ooh
<PPA>
That works now
<PPA>
So it was a user error all along D:
<PPA>
Sorry for having wasted your time there
<ndufresne>
well, you know, I'm glad I went through it, cause I want to use that code to automatically figure-out planes base on zpos, so if that code didn't always work, my stuff would be base on worms
<ndufresne>
let's admit, this is all a bit verbose on command line
<PPA>
I'll reboot the machine to see if it works with just --videosink="kmssink"
<ndufresne>
normally it should be black, then if you call it once with the zpos, further call without it will work (a bit confusing, but this property persist)
<PPA>
Indeed. I rebooted, --videosink="kmssink" didn't work, after running it once with --videosink="kmssink plane-properties=s,zpos=3" it does
<PPA>
Thanks for all the help
<ndufresne>
yeah, next step for me, fix this exploding jelly, and add interlaced support
<ndufresne>
when I find the time ;-P
<PPA>
All the other files I've tried (copyrighted and with larger filesizes though, so I couldn't share them) have been working fine however
<ndufresne>
cool stuff, I haven't got a penny to support Cedrus/Allwinner, to glad it's usable, the driver is different from the others like all the Hantro/Rockchip and newer VSI
