<jerbob92> Hi guys, anyone have experience with stability issues with the rtl8189fs driver? (https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux/tree/rtl8189fs)
<jerbob92> Just reading that the actual device name is RTL8189FTV

<jerbob92> Back through my BNC now, lot easier. So I created a fork of the wifi driver: https://github.com/jerbob92/rtl8189fs_linux, it's based on v4.3.24, which is older than the jwrdegoede driver. I backported the kernel change fixes, and so far the driver seems to be a lot more stable.
<jerbob92> Couldn't even download a 500MB file with the other driver without disconnecting
<jerbob92> Anyone knows whether there are newer driver versions from Realtek?

<lapapat> Hi all, I've searched far and wide but is there anywhere I can find the WIP for enabling cpufreq on the H5?
<lapapat> (as some background I'm building OpenWRT for the NanoPi Neo2 using Kernel 4.14, mainline uboot and kernel work great but there is no cpufreq/thermal zones
<veremitz> did the h2+/h3 stuff get finalised? my b-pi-0 runs rather warm .. lol

<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: I'm looking into LCD issue with new batch of pinebooks
<anarsoul> according to this log: https://t.co/tT81xTeGkL ANX6345 is here, but it doesn't see the panel
<MoeIcenowy> you got it?
<MoeIcenowy> should you try to read DPCD instead of EDID?
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: no, I'm asking someone else to test my images
<MoeIcenowy> oh
<MoeIcenowy> tllim says my sample is blocked when being re-imported back to Guangdong
<MoeIcenowy> so I still need to wait for it
<anarsoul> anyway, I'm looking at schematics
<anarsoul> and looks like LCD doesn't have reset pin
<anarsoul> it's actually anx6345 reset
<anarsoul> but anx6345 seems to be responding to i2c, so looks like it works
<MoeIcenowy> anarsoul: I remember when reading log provided by MingcongBai
<MoeIcenowy> there's "bus locked" message in Linux
<anarsoul> suspicious part is vdd2v5-lcd which goes to avdd33 and dvdd33 pins
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: well, u-boot driver checks anx ID
<anarsoul> and doesn't proceed if it's wrong
<anarsoul> so my question is why are we feeding 2.5v to avdd33 and dvdd33?
<MoeIcenowy> let me check
<anarsoul> I can't find anx6345 datasheet, so I'm not sure whether it wants 3.3v or 2.5v
<MoeIcenowy> anarsoul: on chip ds it's vdd25
<MoeIcenowy> avdd12, dvdd12, avdd25 and dvdd25
<anarsoul> can you share chip datasheet?
<MoeIcenowy> tllim sent it
<anarsoul> I don't have it :(
<anarsoul> OK, found link in logs
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: datasheet says it holds up to 4.0 on AVDD25 and DVDD25
<anarsoul> so I'm thinking about feeding ~2.6v to it
<anarsoul> and probably 1.3v for AVDD12 and DVDD12
<anarsoul> however 1.3 isn't a good idea...
<anarsoul> 1.32 is max
<MoeIcenowy> anarsoul: not it's extreme
<MoeIcenowy> when working it's +-10%
chewitt has quit [Quit: Adios!]
<anarsoul> I remember someone said that it's working (or not working) when charging
<anarsoul> so it's probably something with LCD or ANX power
<MoeIcenowy> anarsoul: MingcongBai says, when charging not working
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: right
<MoeIcenowy> interesting
<MoeIcenowy> should we check what did BSP do?
<anarsoul> didn't he say that BSP also fails for him from time to time?
<anarsoul> anyway, I checked voltages for BSP it sets 1.2v and 2.5v
<MoeIcenowy> I think for 1.2 it can be set
<MoeIcenowy> but for 2.5 it cannot
<MoeIcenowy> fldo1 is 50mV/step
<MoeIcenowy> (it's for 1.2
<jerbob92> MoeIcenowy, are you sure? The drivers seems to be for multiple chips, and you can switch by changing the flags
<MoeIcenowy> oh for 2.5 it's also ok
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: why? base is 0.7, 18 steps by 100mV, it's exactly 2.5V
<ElBarto> anarsoul: so new batch have a problem similar to mine ?
<MoeIcenowy> ElBarto: yes
<MoeIcenowy> jerbob92: they are different source code fiels
<ElBarto> crap
<MoeIcenowy> files *
<ElBarto> I wish I could help right now but FreeBSD 12 code freeze is soon and I have a lot to push ...
<MoeIcenowy> jerbob92: for 8189es there's hal/rtl8188e directory, for 8189fs hal/rtl8189f
<jerbob92> Ah yeah, I see
<MoeIcenowy> this driver has only hal/8188e
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: I wonder if axp803 default settings are different for failing and working pbs
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: we should check whether AVDD and DVDD is enabled by default
<anarsoul> same for DC1SW (LCD power)
<MoeIcenowy> so should we disable them then enable?
<anarsoul> ElBarto: can you do AXP registers dump for working and failing PBs from ATF?
<anarsoul> MoeIcenowy: yeah, maybe
<anarsoul> anyway, I have to go
<anarsoul> be back later
<MoeIcenowy> first of all I think we shouldn't doubt power first
<ElBarto> anarsoul: right now I really have no time, maybe tomorow
<anarsoul> ElBarto: OK
jmcneill has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElBarto> jmcneill: anarsoul is afk now
<ElBarto> jmcneill: I'll poke at AXP registers from ATF tomorow if I have time
<ElBarto> jmcneill: if you could do this and sent u-boot to the guy who is having the problem that would be great (if you have time)
<ElBarto> jmcneill: this is what I used a month ago : https://people.freebsd.org/~manu/atf-pinebook.diff
<ElBarto> now sure I dumped all the registers
<ElBarto> s/now/not/
<micken> I am doing progress with mmc: cmd55 and cmd41 works I just need the all important cmd3 to work :)

<jmcneill> ElBarto: So I hacked up your U-Boot branch to fallback to static EDID when this fails, and guess what -- it works!
<jmcneill> ElBarto: So I guess there's an issue with the aux channel, but everything else seems to be working ok.
<ElBarto> iirc static EDID did works more for me but not 100% of the time
<jmcneill> Well this is the first time that it has ever worked for ryo so he is happy
<jmcneill> and hopefully that data can help narrow things down
<micken> bah.. CMD 2 and 3 -- nothing and CMD3 is the first command in our driver
<micken> and now it worked! 600Khz was too fast
