drm: Add Support for Passive RGB to VGA bridges
<plaes>
it seems like you used wrong cover letter
<mripard_>
plaes: not really, it's just the same ptachset with less and less patches :)

<maldata>
plaes: you make a good point, I don't know. I figured that if the firmware gets baked into a loadable modules, then if the module is built-in, it's probably also crammed into the uImage somewhere.
<maldata>
buZz: yeah, I was under the assumption that it'd be like that.

maldata: what device?
Mr__Anderson has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<maldata>
gsl1680 touchscreen driver.
<plaes>
I know that, but what *device* :)
<maldata>
plaes: sorry, the Merrii Hummingbird H2
<maldata>
It's a sun7i
<plaes>
ah yeah
<plaes>
it's just a barebones board?
Mr__Anderson has joined #linux-sunxi
<plaes>
with 3rd party touchscreen?
<plaes>
you should ask the seller for fw image or driver
<maldata>
yeah, they are not responsive.
<maldata>
neither the vendor nor the manufacturer
<plaes>
you could try different firmwares
<plaes>
but yeah.. not much we can do about it
syeekick has joined #linux-sunxi
<maldata>
I don't know much about the screen itself. I think it comes from Merrii as an optional component, but who knows it they're the manufacturer of that
<maldata>
plaes: ok, thanks. I figured as a last desperate attempt, maybe I could somehow carve it out of the uImage.
<plaes>
can you actually boot this uImage ?
<plaes>
you could get the list of builtin images (if system has been set up properly) via `cat /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.builtin`
<maldata>
yeah, I can boot it, and it's listed in modules.builtin
<maldata>
as gslX680.ko
syeekick has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<plaes>
ok, one thing solved :)
<plaes>
can you upload file somewhere?
<maldata>
hold on a second, I may have explained something pporly
<maldata>
The uImage I have, the one with the module built-in, is of unknown origin
<plaes>
can you upload this uImage somewhere?
<maldata>
yes
<plaes>
hmm
<maldata>
they need me to be able to recompile the kernel from the sunxi source with some new devices
<maldata>
which I can't do without the firmware
yann|work has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
<maldata>
so I have a uImage that works, but isn't what they want.
leviathanch has joined #linux-sunxi
<maldata>
That uImage is the one with gslX680.ko listed in modules.builtin. I will post that uImage on a Google Drive in just a moment.
