<NiteHawk> it was only with your mail that i realized i had read something about H3 MAC generation on the U-Boot mailing list not too long ago - checking the history of boards/sunxi/board.c quickly brought up that commit
<MoeIcenowy> jelle: are you still working on H3 U-Boot HDMI?
<jelle> MoeIcenowy: nope
<MoeIcenowy> who's now WIP on it?
<montjoie> NiteHawk: I think the commit will not solve the problem since sid[3] is not enought random

<MoeIcenowy> I tested moinejf's driver, it works very badly on my screen
gianMOD has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<MoeIcenowy> (may it's also because of my screen is something strange
<MoeIcenowy> (it's a 7" 1024x600 only screen by Waveshare
<NiteHawk> montjoie: but including sid[1] and sid[2] into the CRC generation surely helps?
gianMOD has joined #linux-sunxi
<jelle> MoeIcenowy: I don't think anyone is working on uboot H3 hdmi
popolon has joined #linux-sunxi
<MoeIcenowy> what a pity
<montjoie> NiteHawk: sid[2] surely. perhaps adding sid 1 2 3 and crc the result
<MoeIcenowy> the license problem is not so difficult since the H3 HDMI source codes in tinalinux/linux-3.4 is said to be GPLed
<jelle> MoeIcenowy: well it's not documented and you get some crappy code from AW so what do you suspect :)
<jelle> MoeIcenowy: yeah but that's a recent change
<MoeIcenowy> yes it seems to be obfuscated...

<NiteHawk> montjoie: that's what the mentioned commit already does. it replaces sid[3] with a crc32 value generated over 12 bytes starting at sid[1], i.e. considers sid[1] to sid[3] when doing so. i'd expect Da_Conyul to get different resulting MAC addresses with v2016.09+ (unfortunately he left)
<montjoie> I have badly read it
<montjoie> so yes just upgrading uboot will fix that

<NiteHawk> I think it also configurable. Actually I'd have to check the default sunxi config to see what might already "be there" by default...
apritzel has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<NiteHawk> personally, I don't see crc32 (hash collisions) as a big problem here - given the limited number of bytes and poor distribution (lack of randomness) in the SID values
<willmore> NiteHawk, I wasn't as worried about collisions, but coverage of the output space. I was going to suggest the Alder-32 from zlib, but it doesn't seem to have good coverage on short messages, so crc-32 it is.

<plaes> qschulz: o/
<plaes> testing now with your patches
<qschulz> plaes: o/
<qschulz> plaes: good to know, I didn't have time today to work on it.
<plaes> apparently querying the X1 channel too often causes troubles
<qschulz> what kind of troubles?
<plaes> it displays wrong value
<qschulz> does it get a good value for some time?
<plaes> yes
<qschulz> how do you test it? always the same expected value or it's changing? (for example for your IR sensor, object closer or farther than the position before)
<plaes> hmm.. actually no
<qschulz> no to which one :) ?
<plaes> 'does it get a good value for some time?'
<qschulz> ah! So never a good value then.
<qschulz> what are the values you get (and the one you think you should have)
<plaes> this is the while true output: https://paste.fedoraproject.org/454123/76725416/
<plaes> ok, neverming the 'no good value for some time'
<qschulz> plaes: the 19xx values are expected values right?
<plaes> yes
* plaes needs to clamp down the sensor
<plaes> and this is channel X2 - https://paste.fedoraproject.org/454127/67255121/
<qschulz> same sensor?
<plaes> I yes
<plaes> yes, same sensor and value should be around 26xx
<qschulz> I mean not the same model of sensor but the same sensor. Is it the same sensor then?
<qschulz> can I have the logs for channels Y1 and Y2 as well please?
<plaes> yeah, exactly same sensor
<plaes> currently testing with single one
<plaes> but I can attach all 4 later
<qschulz> plaes: one at a time is great at the moment
<qschulz> plaes: so same sensor on Y1 and Y2 and then I'll try to replicate this tomorrow at work (do nmot have a sensor or anything at home)
<qschulz> plaes: if you don't mind
<qschulz> plaes: what seems really weird is that it's always the same garbage value...
vagrantc has joined #linux-sunxi
<qschulz> plaes: do you have anything else more reliable than an IR sensor you could test the ADC with? For example a potentiometer? So we can eliminate the IR sensor being buggy.
<qschulz> plaes: or a simple resistor is fine as well
<plaes> well, I've been testing with multiple sensors :)
<plaes> I'll see if I can dig something up
<qschulz> plaes: but only IR sensors right? I remember having really unreliable values with IR sensors so... I know a resistor can be trusted :p
premoboss has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<plaes> yeah, I get your point :P
<qschulz> plaes: anyway, thanks for the report, that'll surely be really helpful!
<plaes> ok, made a simple voltage divider with resistors
<plaes> with X2, Y2 it consistently output 3959 / 3960
paulk-collins has joined #linux-sunxi
<plaes> wait
<plaes> ok, with voltage divider outputting 1.62V I'm getting following output:
<plaes> X2 - stable 2203
<plaes> Y1 - stable 2200
<plaes> Y2 - stable 2208 (sometimes 2201)
<qschulz> plaes: ok, so X1's definitely buggy
<mripard> what is the scale ?
<plaes> with Y1 there's a bit more wobble
<plaes> I guess 4096 is 3.0V ?
<plaes> >>> (2200 / 4096. ) * 3.0
<plaes> 1.611328125
<plaes> which is about right
<plaes> mripard: ^^
<plaes> qschulz: now that I tried X1 again, it works :)
<qschulz> plaes: so everything's stable and displays the correct value?
<plaes> yeah.. all 4 channels (one at a time
<plaes> though, it breaks when I do this:
<plaes> while [ 1 ] ; do echo $(cat /sys/devices/platform/soc@01c00000/1c25000.rtp/sun5i-a13-gpadc-iio.0/iio:device0/in_voltage*) ; done
<qschulz> plaes: yes.. There are some problems with the first values returned after switching channels. I'll have a more thorough look at it tomorrow...
benoitm974 has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<plaes> cool, thanks :)
<qschulz> plaes: can't promise anything. might be a hw problem :/
<plaes> don't worry, X2, Y2 works for me :)
<qschulz> oh one more thing
<qschulz> nah, nevermind, I'll test tomorrow :)
<plaes> mripard: is there an official chip release which enables i2c1 ?
<igraltist> montjoie: do u know if the hwrng should work for cubietruck on 4.4?
<montjoie> igraltist: no I need to sent the patch for review
<igraltist> montjoie: ok thx
<igraltist> because device hwrng is there but not working
<igraltist> u need a tester for the patch?
netlynx has quit [Quit: Ex-Chat]
<montjoie> no the problem is that if I send a day the patch for enabling DMA, I have a problem on how to handle the lock
<montjoie> but test are also welcome:)
<montjoie> but I need to sent it, DMA is so so slow that I prefer hwrng come first
benoitm974 has joined #linux-sunxi
<mripard> plaes: you should have a in_voltage_scale file in there too, that will give you the factor to come back to volts
