<oliv3r> hey, who knows most about the Allwinner H3? I read that olimex said it was pin-compatible, but the datassheet seems to dissagree
<oliv3r> PC19/PC20/PC21 and PC22 seem to have gone away entirely
<oliv3r> those where optionally for additional flash chips's Chip Enables OR multiplexed as SPI2
<oliv3r> but it looks like the H3 doesn't have SPI2 at all anymore?
<oliv3r> anybody checked that out yet?
<mripard> pin compatible with what ?
philectro has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<oliv3r> H3 is supposedly pin-compatible with A10/A20

<vishnup> mripard: I'm working on SPL for A83T.
<vishnup> DRAM is initialized, able to write the u-boot-dtb.bin to DRAM
<vishnup> I'm able to see SPL log but not the u-boot logs
<vishnup> after fel exe 0x4a000000, thing happens, any pointers?
<ssvb> oliv3r: I think that olimex mentioned some other yet unnamed SoC, which is going to be A10/A20 pin compatible
<ssvb> oliv3r: see the first comment (and reply) at https://olimex.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/olinuxino-roadmap-2015/
avph has quit [Quit: Lost terminal]
<ssvb> vishnup: do you have a dts file for this board?
popolon has joined #linux-sunxi
<vishnup> ssvb: not yet complete but A33 uart0 and A83T uart0 pins are same
<ssvb> vishnup: which file are you uploading to 0x4a000000 by the way? does it contain a proper dtb blob?
<NiteHawk> vishnup: your "u-boot-dtb.bin" implies you have some kind of .dtb attached...
<ssvb> vishnup: yes, the main u-boot code should handle uart, but it handles uart with a different driver (not the same code as in the spl)
<ssvb> vishnup: also maybe it is a good idea to try reading this data back from the DRAM and compare, just to be sure that the DRAM is really initialized properly
<vishnup> ssvb: that's good idea, let me try
<libv> ssvb: the comment by "teh maker" is funny
<libv> where he tries to instruct tsvetan to give the sunxi people discounts on olimex hw
<vishnup> ssvb: seems fel write is complete but gets timeout while reading from DDR :(
<libv> and then he goes on and complains about how mainline support lacks usb otg for his commercial goals
<vishnup> but read gets timeout error -7
<libv> but nowhere does he seem to want to actively contribute towards a solution of the latter, or even the former

<oliv3r> ahh ssvb my bad! I thought H3 was going to be the upgrade
<oliv3r> i dont' know what made me think that H3 was going to be that
FlorianH has quit [Quit: WeeChat 0.4.2]
<oliv3r> maybe i jumped to conclusions when i read h3, hdmi + ethernet 'oh must be a40'
<ssvb> oliv3r: btw, what's going on with the https://github.com/linux-sunxi/u-boot-sunxi repository?
<ssvb> oliv3r: looks like it is serving some really strange branch by default
<libv> ssvb: i think one can set that up like that in github
<libv> not sure who did that, and whether that was previously discussed
<vishnup> ssvb: it seems i messed up with ddr configuration, need to look at it again
<ssvb> libv: I mean the code there looks kinda mainlinish, but is is 28 days old
<libv> oh, ok
<ssvb> vishnup: ok, good luck :)

<ssvb> oliv3r: do you have any comments about this?
<oliv3r> ssvb: which branch
<ssvb> oliv3r: whatever is active at https://github.com/linux-sunxi/u-boot-sunxi by default ('mirror/next')

FR^2 has joined #linux-sunxi
<ssvb> oliv3r: do you mean this? http://git.denx.de/?p=u-boot/u-boot-sunxi.git;a=summary
<oliv3r> yeah
<ssvb> oliv3r: well, as you can see, it is not in sync
<ssvb> apparently the person who tried to setup mirroring, did not manage to get it working right
<oliv3r> its not setup to mirror
<oliv3r> it's manually mirrored atm
<oliv3r> i updated it now though :)
<oliv3r> ideally, it should be automatically mirrored, absolutly
<ssvb> oliv3r: well, it's a really fucked up setup
<oliv3r> yep
<ssvb> why do we even need a mirror when http://git.denx.de/?p=u-boot/u-boot-sunxi.git;a=summary exists?
<oliv3r> legacy reasons i guess
<oliv3r> make sure people use a proper u-boot instead of an old one
<libv> one could create a new branch, with a README and nothing else, and make that the default that github shows?
<oliv3r> that's even better maybe yeah
<libv> but send an email to the ml first if something that drastic is done
<oliv3r> i'll follow up on my earlier mail; i like that solution too
<oliv3r> having a mirror is still nice though
<libv> but we really should kick people to add existing sunxi-uboot devices to mainline uboot
<libv> and we should kick people to add devices to our wiki
<libv> i will try to use my evenings in the hotel to start patrolling device pages again

<bpi-user> Hi! For which use cases will the dmaengine driver, that is supposed to land in Linux 4.3, improve performance? Or, in other words, is there a simple way to test if the dmaengine driver works as expected if I built a kernel and dtb with the patch applied?
<bpi-user> It's not that I need to do anything with it. I'm just curious to see if anything changes with the driver with regards to performance. Or is it just important for audio?
