<jackdaniel> philippe_fouquet: I'm working on it (only read support tough)
<jackdaniel> unless you mean something else then nand (?)
<philippe_fouquet> jackdaniel: I want replace place all allwinner boot sedence (Boot0->Boot1->u-Boot->...) by sunxi one (u-Boot-SPL->U-Boot->...) but i worke on flash support
<philippe_fouquet> jackdaniel: where can I find the source?
<jackdaniel> philippe_fouquet: check upstream u-boot mailing list for patches - but it's pretty rought right now
<philippe_fouquet> jackdaniel: ok many thanks

<nickludlam> Am I right in thinking that the A20 is probably the best supported CPU right now?
<nickludlam> Having just bought myself an H3 board, it’s still very early in terms of support, so I think I’ll probably need to get myself another more mainstream SBC for the time being
bfree has joined #linux-sunxi
<libv> nickludlam: if you bought an h3 board, chances are that it isn't documented at all on our wiki yet, please create a device page in New_Device_Howto style

<alexvf> leviathancn: what binaries?
<leviathancn> alexvf: uhm... there is an android SDK
<leviathancn> right?
<wens> mripard: and a80 has nmi inside prcm, which would need some more resource-handling glue code in sun6i-prcm if not initialized directly from DT
<alexvf> leviathancn: i don't have it
<alexvf> leviathancn: i'm using allwinner bootloader
<alexvf> leviathancn: but i tested with u-boot-sunxi (from sd) to change some host port settings
<leviathancn> alexvf: ok, that was the question
<leviathancn> alexvf: does it still show this performance issues with the Allwinner code
<alexvf> leviathancn: ok, so i guess it is bootloader independent
<alexvf> leviathancn: yes
<leviathancn> alexvf: if it shows the symptoms even with the code from the manufacturer
vishnup has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
<leviathancn> alexvf: it's safe to assume they don't know how to fix this ;-)
<leviathancn> alexvf: and that you've just come across a performance limit
<leviathancn> if it doesn't occur in their provided version
<leviathancn> it means we should ask how to fix the problem in the mainline code as well
<alexvf> leviathancn: i agree that most likely they don't know how to resolve it

<leviathancn> (because you talk differently in formal Chinese)

<alexvf> leviathancn: yes, i understand thats hard
<leviathancn> yes
<leviathancn> and to be straight forward
mmarker has quit [Client Quit]
<alexvf> leviathancn: but, no engineer can talk english there? i find this stunning :)
<leviathancn> alexvf: the lack of documentation is also caused by an unhealthy dose of paranoia in the wrong positions >_>'
<leviathancn> alexvf: but yes
<leviathancn> alexvf: I've met the guy who made the DRAM controller
<leviathancn> alexvf: you can't really expect him to write a whole documentation just like that in English

<leviathancn> also it's so damn complexly interworked with the rest of the cpu that they simply can't just release it because they'd publish parts of the ARM architecture which are protected by contracts with ARM
<alexvf> leviathancn: well, we don't actually need a full documentation (at least for this purpose), but knowing which host port controls each device would be a good start
<leviathancn> alexvf: ok,
<leviathancn> alexvf: got it

<Callmea> TheLinuxBug, Hi :), just orderer an orange pi 2 last night, still have no experience at all in allwinner chips, but hope to contribute in the future to this project :)
<TheLinuxBug> Orange Pi?
<TheLinuxBug> linky?
<TheLinuxBug> I wana see
<TheLinuxBug> ;p
<Callmea> TheLinuxBug, here is a link : http://www.orangepi.org/orangepi2/
<Callmea> it's like a rasp pi 2 but msemms to be more powerfull and it uses a H3 allwinner chip
<TheLinuxBug> nice unit
<Callmea> I hope, i hesitated between pi2 and this one, but i cve chosent it in order to participate to a alternative project. And i m not a fan of broadcom socs. I've already have a pi1
<TheLinuxBug> well price for quad core is nice
<TheLinuxBug> should be http://linux-sunxi.org/H3
<TheLinuxBug> the wiki is pretty nice
<TheLinuxBug> if you know something not there register and add it
<TheLinuxBug> if you don't know ask, sometimes some luls but ppl do try to help
<Callmea> Nice I thank you very much, TheLinuxBug .On your link, There is a link to the sdk, maybe i'll can compile the kernel and others stuffs with it :)
<TheLinuxBug> Yeah looks like mainline kernel support isn't there yet
<TheLinuxBug> hopefully the manufacturer gives you some images
<TheLinuxBug> Callmea: what did you want to use it for, medie?
<TheLinuxBug> media*
<TheLinuxBug> cause it would be greaty for that with android on it, get bubblepnp and mxplayer + neon1.7.32.zip ac3 patch and you can do full 1080p60 pretty nice with that CPU
<TheLinuxBug> Not sure how well will be as server as there isn't mainline support yet, you would have to check what they provide
<Callmea> TheLinuxBug, They (Orangepi website) just provided some images of raspian/Lubuntu distribution, so it seems to have an available kernel, but i think its still a beta.
khuey is now known as khuey|away
<TheLinuxBug> ahh yes, then thats all you need to start
khuey|away is now known as khuey
<TheLinuxBug> raspbian and you can likely build most of the needed modules for MALI400/CedarX as you need em
<Callmea> My goal is to build a mini 7 inch notebook/tablet with dual os (android and raspiand on 2 different sd cards).
<TheLinuxBug> only need MALI drivers for 3d iirc
<TheLinuxBug> cool
<TheLinuxBug> shoudn't have a horid time as long as manufacturer supplied images are not crap ;p
<TheLinuxBug> Android you should likely have no problem
<TheLinuxBug> let me know the support for raspbian though
<TheLinuxBug> as you try it would be interested to know
<Callmea> I saw that, it s for rockchip chips, but maybe a good way of start to support mali on x11 : http://linux-rockchip.info/mw/index.php?title=3d2dAcceleration
<Callmea> I'll do my report :), but i we need to be patient, this shippments takes 15/21 days to france from china :-(

<mouse9911_> thanks! I've been to that page many times :) do you know if there is any documentation available for Cedarx?
<mouse9911_> also do you know if there is any higher level support for the codecs in linux or android? i saw this recently which makes me think that there is some higher level support, but i am not sure if it is android only

<TheLinuxBug> The android drivers have been much more developed than the ones on mainline linux per my knowledge and you will have to manually compile and build up cedar your self I believe
<TheLinuxBug> someone in here may now more
<TheLinuxBug> I am not sure
<mouse9911_> thanks! from what I saw i thought they might be a bit more developed for android, just am not 100% sure, and would rather find out now instead of after many hours of debugging on linux, only to find that what i was doing was already done on android version
<TheLinuxBug> np glad I could help
