<ssvb> atsampson: it's difficult to compare, because you don't seem to be testing individual parameters in isolation there
<ssvb> atsampson: oh, in fact you are :)
<ssvb> atsampson: at least EMR1=0x04 seems to be better than EMR1=0x06 and EMR1=0x40
<ssvb> atsampson: oh, but these were from different boards...
<ssvb> atsampson: anyway, this looks like a great start
<ssvb> atsampson: and you even have two boards to compare whether they show the same behavior with the same dram settings
<ssvb> atsampson: I don't have such a luxury myself (only one board of each kind here)
<atsampson> ssvb: the other thing I'd noticed was that tpr3=0 seems to be about the worst choice at any speed - I'm not surprised they couldn't get it to work at 480MHz... ;-)
<atsampson> I was wondering if the diagonal stripes are indicative of anything; at any particular delay it's cycling between being OK and not OK

<ssvb> atsampson: it looks like there are two disconnected isles of green, one in the top left corner, and another in the bottom right corner
<ssvb> at low enough clock speeds they seem to connect
<ssvb> you probably might want to consider tuning parameters to target each of these isles independently
<ssvb> they could represent local maximums, and one of them may be better than the other in the end (if you move to even higher dram clock speeds)

<codekipper> Turl, anything is better than nothing..thanks. I've been trying to use openwrt cpio but for now the kernel is barfing

<libv> gnyers: you are not working on the page
<MY123> gnyers, Which device is it?
<libv> you are claiming to be working on something, but that's definitely not a device page
<MY123> libv: He probably redirected linux-sunxi.org to nowhere in /etc/hosts :-)
<MY123> libv: Are Allwinner WindowsRT claims true?
<MY123> (or just marketting)
<MY123> as I don't see a way to implement Secure Boot on AW devices
<libv> MY123: i have no idea
<libv> just a faint memory that some noise was made like a year ago
leviathancn has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<MY123> libv: If you can boot non-securely with a uSD , then Secure Boot is impossible
<MY123> libv: The Windows RT HAL adaptation library is 20 kilobytes only
<MY123> (timer management)
<MY123> Everything else is using standard UEFI services
<MY123> (I got RT working on Qemu)
<MY123> (a curious hybrid target between Versatile-A15 and Tegra3)
<ssvb> MY123: well, if we can boot non-securely with a uSD, then we can chain load any OS without nay problems
<ssvb> *any
<MY123> ssvb: And that violates RT's licensing agreement
<MY123> So it is only a PoC, without pratical value, as even if there is no slot, there is still FEL
<ssvb> MY123: too bad for the Windows RT then, they will be missed here
<MY123> ssvb, Microsoft abandonned Windows RT
<MY123> (actually a good decision)
<ssvb> MY123: FEL is only usable with the FEL button (which is driving the BOOT_SEL pin)
<MY123> ssvb: I know, but RT also requires a recovery capablity
<ssvb> MY123: you can still design a somewhat locked down device by removing the FEL button and the first SD card slot

<ssvb> gnyers: just take it and gradually fill in the missing parts, which are highlighted red
<gnyers> ssvb: thx. I've already took this into the device page
<ssvb> gnyers, looks good, thanks
<ssvb> gnyers: are you sure that the dram clock frequency is 312mhz on this device?
<ssvb> gnyers: how did you identify that?
<MY123> ssvb, if you wrote a shitload of Win32 code and you don't want to throw it...
<MY123> (if that version does not have Win32 support, then it's useless for me)
<ssvb> MY123: I believe that there are plenty of windows devices on market, you can run your code on any of these devices
<MY123> ssvb: with under a 3W TDP
<MY123> ?
<MY123> ssvb: The Galileo has no GUI :(
<ssvb> MY123: maybe get a Raspberry Pi 2 ?
<MY123> ssvb: Commercial and not released
<ssvb> MY123: from what I heard, they are getting some sort of windows support
<MY123> ssvb: It is ModernUI only
<MY123> ssvb: And porting a device to WindowsRT is easy for personnal use
<MY123> (you only need a disassembler and a UEFI implementation)
<ssvb> gnyers: ok, I did not know that anyone else owns this device, but apparently Hans has one - https://github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-boards/commits/master/sys_config/a10/jesurun-q5.fex
<ssvb> gnyers: still 312MHz is very fishy
<gnyers> ssvb: this is Hans' device
<el3> Hi. Is it possible to make a board act as a usb printer. So it would save a pdf file instead of printing a paper, as a normal printer would?

<ssvb> gnyers: some devices do not tolerate low dram clock frequency (Cubietruck), and I kind of settled on 360mhz as the failsafe dram setup - https://github.com/ssvb/sunxi-bootsetup/releases/tag/20141215-sunxi-bootsetup-prototype
<ssvb> gnyers: it would be interesting to know if you have any kind of dram clock speed increase headroom

<el3> Does anyone know, if it is possiple to make a A20 board to act like a printer, so printing jobs would be sent to the device trough usb? I would like to fecth data instead of printing it. I currently have g_mass_storage working on otg port. I found somethig called CUPS, but I dont know if it will let me send print jobs to the device trough usb.
<lukas2511> you could set it up as usb gadget network interface and run cups as network printer software on the device, storing print jobs as pdf or something
<lukas2511> it should also be possible to write a real usb printer gadget driver, but i don't think anybody did that yet
<el3> lukas2511: okey. Usually the machine prints outh the measurements made, if any usb printer is connectet to its usb port.
<NiteHawk> i take it that you want to pretend you're a (usb) printer. cups is a printing system that outputs to a variety of 'backend' devices. it doesn't do the "receiving" that you seem to have in mind
<el3> NiteHawk: true, I want to make it act like a usb printer
<el3> so the network printer would not work?
iamfrankenstein has quit [Quit: iamfrankenstein]
<NiteHawk> what network printer? you were talking about the OTG port (connecting the A20 locally to the usb output of your "machine")
<el3> the other machine shall do the print as normal. But I guess it will only do it, if it see there is a printer connected
<el3> NiteHawk: sry forget the network printer
<NiteHawk> have a look at http://lwn.net/Articles/175621/

<el3> Okey I changed the printer driver in ubuntu to generic postscript. now I get better output on the test
<NiteHawk> that's expected. the data you receive depends on the printer driver in use (on the sending side). maybe you have a "teletype" or "text-only" printer available?
