<ssvb> crap, I have accidentally destroyed a cleaned up patchset for u-boot just before sending it :(
<ssvb> now need to reconstruct it from a messy code again

<alatnet> yo, have a giada q11 mini that has an allwinner a10. it's having problems where i cannot install any apps in the included android system on it. I am able to boot a MK802 linux image on it but i have no access to the nand or the sata drive. think anyone can help me out in figuring out how to fix the android portion? atm im not anywhere near the device.
<alatnet> if anyone is wondering what device i am talking about, this is pretty much it in entirety: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Giada/Q11/

<AF04FB9290474265> Should come here more often. I guess I missed CB4 :)
<Seppoz> cb4?
<AF04FB9290474265> The A80 Cubie
<alatnet> so i guess no one knows about the giada q11?
<Seppoz> alatnet: i dont sorry but maybe you can explain a bit cloder what "cant install any apps" man
<Seppoz> *mean
<alatnet> ,in the storage section of the settings, there's two sections for on board storage
<alatnet> system memory and flash memory
<alatnet> system is maxed out and flash memory has 5 gigs left on it
<alatnet> so when i try to install apps from the play store, it throws an error stating that there's not enough space
<alatnet> along with that, settings do not save
<Seppoz> well first you want to find out why your system storage is full
<alatnet> yea... problem with that tutorail
<Seppoz> maybe the partitioning of the image you use suck
<alatnet> that assumes that i have access to a micro usb connection to connect to the computer
<Seppoz> or maybe your system aprtition is mounted read only
<alatnet> i have no idea... the device was an open box system anyway
<Seppoz> in any way you will need root/console access
<alatnet> yea...
<alatnet> come monday, i'll see if i can access adb through the serial port on the device
<alatnet> but i am able to boot off of the sd card slot
<alatnet> so not all is lost
<alatnet> is there any CWM that has keyboard and mouse control or at least that sets adb up though ethernet?
<alatnet> oh yea, i should note that when i tried to do a factory reset, it formated the flash storage but then restarted to the red exclamation point.
<alatnet> there doesnt seem to be any sort of recovery as there's a button to, i believe, enter recovery but all it does is delay booting into android
<alatnet> along with another button that, i assume, is to flash firmware or something...
<Seppoz> are u using original android provided by vendor?
<alatnet> yes
<Seppoz> then contact him
<alatnet> at least i assume to be
<alatnet> i did send an email
<Seppoz> cant you caontact him and ask
<Seppoz> ok
<alatnet> nothing yet from the vendor
<alatnet> if you are wondering, this is the vendor's site: http://giadapc.com/
<alatnet> is there any tutorials on how to create android images for the a10?
<Seppoz> anyone seen a83 in any board yet?

<ssvb> vishnup: I mean, have a look at the mctl_init function in objdump log - http://pastebin.com/qpfAeXG8
weissschloss has joined #linux-sunxi
<ssvb> vishnup: it writes a set of parameters to stack, like 3 (dram type), 480 (likely dram clk) and the others
<ssvb> vishnup: then it calls init_DRAM
<vishnup> wait let me check once again
<ssvb> the pointer to this data struct on stack is passed to init_DRAM in r1 register (the second init_DRAM function argument) and picked up there
<ssvb> you could also try to call init_DRAM instead of mctl_init with your own dram parameters (call it with 2 arguments, set the first one to 0 and the second one to your dram_para struct pointer)
<ssvb> if somebody does a complete analysis of the libdram code disassembly (it is really relatively small and simple), then A33 DRAM init code can be implemented
<vishnup> ssvb: libdram was different :(. let me try with 480 MHzlibdram
<plaes> ssvb: I have some that I managed to save from allwinner's recent u-boot git publish before they were removed
<plaes> interested?

<ssvb> we only have moral/legal aspects to worry about, but no real technical challenges with libdram disassembly :)

wigyori_ is now known as wigyori
<vishnup> ssvb: here is log with 480MHz libdram
<vishnup> NOTHING AFTER THIS!
<ssvb> it's still a different DRAM DRIVE INFO message
<ssvb> how many libdram blobs do you have?
<ssvb> maybe a33 needs a different one?
<ssvb> vishnup: also you can provide your own dram parameters structure if you call init_DRAM function
<vishnup> ssvb, I'll try it.

<atsampson> I'll add a note to that effect to the wiki page for the board later
<plaes> wouldn't it make sense to add some kind of property to devicetree so people wouldn't have to hack the source?
<ssvb> vishnup: then, I guess, our priority would be to somehow get a working boot0 binary for a33
<ssvb> vishnup: unlike libdram, it does not have named symbols, but it is not a big problem as long as it works
<ssvb> vishnup: another possibility is that libdram might need some hardware block initialized before it is called
<ssvb> vishnup: checking the boot0 code might help to confirm or debunk this

<ssvb> premoboss: certain dram parameters are auto-configured by the hardware, and the results are unfortunately not very deterministic
<premoboss> ok
<flok420> premoboss: there are usb sticks for doing so. or you could connect an arduino to it via eg i2c and then sample its adc pins
<ssvb> premoboss: so it's possible to abuse it to fill a buffer with randomish data and then use it as a seed for a high quality PRNG
