<cnxsoft> Hi
<RK3188-SOM> are you rockchip developers?
<RK3188-SOM> I've got an Olimex RK3188 and was hoping to find some others that have worked with the board
<cnxsoft> Nope

<susedv> Sorry for this stupid question, but how to pull changes from git.us.linux-rockchip.org, is this URL wrong or doesn't it work anymore? git://git.jp.linux-rockchip.org/rk3288_r-box_android4.4.2_sdk.git
<susedv> git.jp.linux-rockchip.org[0: 160.16.200.221]: errno=Connection refused

<susedv> beeble, thank you, it seems to respond but there is an error "error: Unable to find 516c768983129eb872a410524cfcb4fd1a1f175c under http://git.jp.linux-rockchip.org/rk3288_r-box_android4.4.2_sdk". But maybe it's an issue in my local repo, I'll check it.
<beeble> i started a clone, but as it is really the dumb http protocol it will take a while...
<beeble> susedv: fresh clone worked for me
<susedv> beeble: Hmm ok, thanks. I don't remember whether I cloned it or downloaded a zip some years ago, but the origin was set to git://git.nl.linux-rockchip.org/rk3288_r-box_android4.4.2_sdk.git which didn't work anymore. Changed it now but cannot pull. Ok, then it's my local problem.

<wouterstreamit> I found that recently the way in which rockusb is implemented in u-boot was changed and now it doesn't work for me anymore. It gets stuck on a message RKUSB: LUN 0, dev 0, hwpart 0, sector 0x40, count 0x1f40. My PC recognizes that an USB device is inserted but gives a driver error (windows) or does not show anything in dmesg (linux)

Easyfab has joined #linux-rockchip
<wouterstreamit> I am trying to use mpv_git from rockchip-linux to play video on my rk3288 but can't get a working command line: mpv [file] --hwdec=rkmpp --vo drm gives me an error "Image formats incompatible or invalid"
<Easyfab> and with --hwdec=rkmpp --vo=gpu --gpu-context=drm
<wouterstreamit> EasyFab: same problem
<phh> LongChair: ^
<Easyfab> wouterstreamit did you use libmali wayland version ? IIRC it necessary
<wouterstreamit> How does that work if I'm not using wayland?
<LongChair> wouterstreamit: you need to use the hw_overlay
<LongChair> i think it's --hwdec-interop=drmprime-drm from the top of my head
lurchi_ is now known as lurchi__
<LongChair> or something similar
<wouterstreamit> --hwdec-interop command line option not found
<wouterstreamit> Is it --opengl-hwdec-interop?
<LongChair> yeah something like that
<LongChair> those were renamed recently
<wouterstreamit> Ok so right now I get a segfault but there's a few things about this whole DRM stuff I completely do not understand
<LongChair> logs ?
<LongChair> you must not use the vo=drm
<LongChair> use vo=opengl
<LongChair> or the gpu thing
<LongChair> you need to run it with gpu stuff set to opengl and just add hwdec & opengl-interop
lurchi__ is now known as lurchi_
<LongChair> iirc it's --vo=gpu --gpu-api=opengl --gpu-context=drm --gpu-hwdec-interop=drmprime-drm
<wouterstreamit> so no hwdec=rkmpp?
<LongChair> you need that one as well
<LongChair> i'm not in front of my machine atm, still at work, so don't have those on hand :)
<wouterstreamit> So I get a segfault after log messages "[vo/gpu] Creating GBM device [vo/gpu] Initializing GBM surface [vo/gpu/opengl] Initializing EGL
<LongChair> do you have the proper GBM mali drivers ?
<wouterstreamit> So this I dont fully understand
<LongChair> there is one mali library for each type of use
<wouterstreamit> Why is there a seperate mali driver for X11/Wayland/GBM/fbdev? Why cant a single driver implement multiple backends?
<LongChair> fbdev / drm / wayland / x11-fbdev
<LongChair> because that's the way arm does it
<wouterstreamit> So just for my sanity: I cannot use this mpv implementation if I have mali-x11?
<LongChair> well dunno, never tried it under x11
<LongChair> and it depends, i thin the wayland one also implements the GBM
<LongChair> but the x11 might not
<wouterstreamit> Or is there a way to use this with x11? Because (before, it seems broken now) I could use rkximagesink with gstreamer on mpp
<LongChair> yeah but rkimagesink would just use egl and not drm
<wouterstreamit> But this mpp patc h also has files like context_drm_egl?
<LongChair> egl would limit you barely to 1080p, and would depend .. more likely x11 would add a lot of delay
<LongChair> which patch ?
<LongChair> the drm-egl renderer was enever merged even if I submitted it because of the fucked up intel drivers that don't support NV12 properly
<LongChair> ah so you're running my code and not the upstream one
<wouterstreamit> Yes
<LongChair> try to replace the interop with drmprime-egl
<wouterstreamit> No hwdec backend named drmprime-egl found
<LongChair> then you're lackign some deps
<LongChair> and mpv didn't build it
<LongChair> wait
<LongChair> actually that code only has the drm interop
<wouterstreamit> So what are the egl related bits there?
<LongChair> there is no egl interop in that code
<LongChair> it would create an egl context based on GBM/DRM backend
<LongChair> whcih it doesn't seem to be able on your setup, could be because of X11
<LongChair> you might want to give a try at that branch : https://github.com/LongChair/mpv/tree/rockchip-drmprime-egl
<LongChair> it's has the drmprime-egl only renderer
<LongChair> could possibly work
<wouterstreamit> As I dont think I am using any applications that wouldnt work on Wayland, it seems worth learning about that instead of using subpar solutions with X11 I guess
<wouterstreamit> Thanks a lot for your help, this is actually clarifying a lot for me with regards to the different backends on Linux.
