mhhhh.... very interesting this rockchip usb uart thing... I think that I will use it on my chromebook (as the real uart is not wired)

usb uart?
<naobsd>
I think uart tx/rx must be connected to usb dp/dm (i.e. hardware support is needed), right?

cool ! which part does work exactly via usb uart ? if I understood correctly booting a linux kernel with an earlycon is possible, right ?
<rperier>
not sure, but, amstan shown me bootloader logs few days ago...
<amstan>
rperier: hello
<rperier>
hi
<rperier>
:)
<rperier>
(the part selecting the dtb)
<mmind00>
rperier: the usb uart just reroutes the uart2 pins to the usb port
<mmind00>
rperier: so while yes, real earlycon support comes with the latest patch from Stefan Agner ... it doesn't really matter, as the usb-uart stuff works on the hw-level anyway [it still stays uart2 for everything]
<amstan>
rperier: what device do you have? some of the chromebooks have some easy to solder to uart headers if you're willing to open the case
