given that it's probably a three pin device, it probably just got turned off

I would guess, if you want resume on keypress of the remote, that you would need to fiddle with the power down steps to not power it down at all.

When the system is hibernation, the remote control can't resume the system. but if connected the OTG USB(maybe earlysuspend or suspend), the ir can resume the system.

Tony__: would really depend on how the ir receiver is wired and powered. it could be on a uart, or on a gpio, and whatever it's input is, and it's power supply woudl all need to remain enabled.
