hi
<Bludot>
anyone here?
<Bludot>
well anyways, I wanted to build a kernel for my rk3188 device. Is it possible to use the up to date rk3188 kernel source? or should I use the source that is available for my device? I copy the defconfig to the source that I am using (since one exists)

<Tony__>
hey.
<Tony__>
If you are only a user, I think you should use the source that is available for your device.

Bludot, there is a "GUIDE" about kernel source.
<Tony__>
2th, after 3.0-stable maybe you can try linux-next(mainline).

<LinuxBot_>
rperier: do you have defconfig for 3066a SoC ?
<LinuxBot_>
for linux
<rperier>
LinuxBot_: the defconfig used by linux-next (recipes-kernel/linux/linux_3.19.bb) is compatible with both rk3066 and rk3188
<rperier>
you might have to define your own bootargs , but it works
<rperier>
this is the defconfig we use for the marsboard-rk3066 and the radxa-rock
levd1 has quit [Quit: levd1]
<LinuxBot_>
rperier: oh ok. thanks
levd has joined #linux-rockchip
<rperier>
however , as I said several times, be sure that your board is supported in mailine. That's not because it has a rk3066 SoC that everything will work (most of the things might work if use an existing devicetree source which is compatible with your board but you might have missing features)

<gb_master>
hello, anybody here using the mainline and having eth fully working?
<gb_master>
with radxa rock, I mean
<rperier>
gb_master: it works perfectly here, except that I have few losts packets through nfs sometimes (not very often). What is your problem ?
<gb_master>
actually the router says it got its own IP address
<gb_master>
but I can't access the web server hosted on the RR
<gb_master>
and, when I try to SSH it, after I enter the password, the connection drops
<rperier>
the connections drops... does the ssh server still run ? (does it crash ?)
<gb_master>
well, I guess it's running
<gb_master>
I have no way to access the radxa internally
<rperier>
you don't have an usb serial ?
<gb_master>
even because, I can retry and retry and I will always have the "Enter password" prompt
<gb_master>
not at the moment
<rperier>
just in case, do you have an empty password ? because that's the case with buildroot or yocto when you deploy a rootfs image for developing. Also some ssh server prohibit empty password (this is the case for dropbear for example)
LinuxBot_ has joined #linux-rockchip
<gb_master>
no, it's not empty password
<gb_master>
I already have my system working
<gb_master>
I just put a mainline kernel
Tony__ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<naobsd>
gb_master: did you see log on RR?
<gb_master>
well, without SSH I have no way of accessing RR
<naobsd>
gb_master: ? if you use SD card as rootfs, pull it
<naobsd>
gb_master: same for USB disk
<gb_master>
yes, everything's on SD
<gb_master>
boot and rootfs
<naobsd>
gb_master: if ssh(d) ask password, mainline ethernet works fine
<naobsd>
gb_master: problem should be in your userland
<gb_master>
I wish I had that USB serial I left back home
<naobsd>
gb_master: you should have it
levd1 has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds]
<gb_master>
I'll take it back on Xmas
<naobsd>
gb_master: btw, again, pull SD card & read it
<naobsd>
gb_master: you should try to solve your problem before asking
<gb_master>
pull it out?
<naobsd>
gb_master: read logs on SD card. if nothing is logged, change logging configuration
<gb_master>
ah
<gb_master>
didn't think of that
<gb_master>
thank you :D
<naobsd>
gb_master: and also try ssh -vvv
<gb_master>
I will
<gb_master>
thank you very much again

<mmind00_>
LinuxBot_: also it depends heavily on which hdmi-block you mean
<mmind00_>
(rk3066-hdmi is a different one from the rk3288 (designware-compatible) one) and rk3188 does not contain a hdmi-block itself but makes use of external hdmi transceivers
