mmind00: we already discussed about a generic property in dts to control system power. As suggested by Mark Brown in reply to my patches, it might be a good idea to create helper functions for that. Like of_get_system_power_controller or of_get _poweroff_source . I mean this is already the case for some properties "like nand-on-flash-bbt" which has its own helper function
<rperier>
even if this is not a big stuff, it would make sense, imho
<rperier>
or a standard function to check if the standard property is defined and define pm_power_off with a function pointer (given as argument). something like that

(even if I am pessimistic about the second idea)

rperier: yep :-) ... you could try talking to Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> - who has done the restart unification ... it could be he also has some thoughts on a gernal pm_power_off unification ... as the single pm_power_off has similar issues like old arm_pm_restart had ... [maybe more than one reset/poweroff source, what happens if the driver gets unloaded]
<key2>
mmind00: why don't they simply open their source code for the android version
<rperier>
mmind00: I sent him an email. thanks
<key2>

<rperier>
key2: about poweroff unification in the kernel. Like he has already did for restart. We need to find a way for defining poweroff from a driver using a standard and generic property in the devicetree. Currently each driver defines its own property "vendor,system-power-controller" and only when the property is found the driver exports the function pm_power_off. We need to propose a standard way and helper functions perhaps. Also, pm_power_off
<rperier>
might has similar issues like the old arm_pm_restart.
<rperier>
this is just to know his opinion and start a discussion
<rperier>
also poweroff has different sources in the kernel. it might be executed from acpi, power, regulator or mfd driver... and sometimes the soc itself... propose an unified way for handling that would be nice
<rperier>

May be I got a knot in my brain, may be there is a simple solution...
<Astralix1>
Booting the radxa ubuntu_server NAND or SD images works fine.
<Astralix1>
But booting any kind of desktop versions fail
<Astralix1>
Probably the old developer radxas have lcdc0 instead of lcdc1

Astralix1: did you use the rock pro images? rock images don't work on the pro
<Astralix1>
Hmmm... There are many images for the pro but very few images for the non-pro
<Astralix1>
and no, I didn't
<Astralix1>
I used the non-pro only
<c0d3z3r0>
you said "developer radxas" - should that mean pro?
<Astralix1>
no
<c0d3z3r0>
oh ok
<Astralix1>
Early Birds
<Astralix1>
Don't even habe BT
<Astralix1>
I wanted to re assemble an image that should consist of a kernel with lcdc0 and an image having desktop
<Astralix1>
So I rkunpack-ed the NAND image
<c0d3z3r0>
you could try to compile your own kernel with lcdc0
<Astralix1>
Yes I could, I wnated to avoid this for only some testing...
<Astralix1>
But I guess I have to
<Astralix1>
For this I wanted to ask, how 3.10.x or mainline is in regards to MALI and VPU support
<Astralix1>
I got sort of a warning of the chromium code quality
akaizen has joined #linux-rockchip
<c0d3z3r0>
I'm sorry, I don't know :/ mainline support is in development by mmind00
<Astralix1>
I am preparing an SD Card actually to test a bit with Desktop on RK
<Astralix1>
Need to get this into a reproducable running state. Then I sync my repo against yours again and check
<mmind00>
of course, as I stated in my g+ post this is just the raw mali device, not any video output
<Astralix1>
Oh, if there is a desktop and a console, I can test if it is just output :)
bengal has joined #linux-rockchip
<mmind00>
there is of course neither ... only a /dev/mali
<mmind00>
which a suitable userspace part would access
<kenguru_>
sorry to bother you on here, but i'm using a android mk809 stick for a car audio solution, unfortunately i updated it without decent knowledge about the exact hardware, i just found at then i have rk3188t and rtl 8723bs wifi chip in it.
<kenguru_>
needless to say, but wifi and bt are dead, have tried many version, but.. none of em seems to work
<Astralix1>
So, kenguru_, what do you exactly need?
<kenguru_>
help i guess, maybe a "stock" image for it or little help how to load a wifi/bt device drivers as modules and also a hint where to get em.
<kenguru_>
i stay here and idle but in rl it's 00:30am and eyes hardly stays open.
<Astralix1>
mk809... which exact version?
<kenguru_>
mk809iii i assume it is, said "r-box" on boot screen when it was stock.
<Astralix1>
I am searching my archived images but cannot test as the stick si lying around in the office...
<Astralix1>
And abviously tronsmart's filebase is offline
