Is IPFS doing something like swarm delivery when there are multiple copies of the same file on the network?

<voker57>
yes, different chunks can be downloaded from different sources
<voker57>
same as torrent
<eleitlDiscord[m]>
Also, the more pinned copies in the network, the less delay until the file is served, right? Right now with a single instance it takes so long the gateway sometimes times out.
<swedneck1>
i would think the delay depends mostly on how close the data is to the node in question
<swedneck1>
if the node already has the data, it should be very fast.
<swedneck1>
if the data is only available on a node in orbit around jupiter, the delay will be quite massive
<swedneck1>
if a node on the same local network has the data, it should only be slightly slower.
<eleitlDiscord[m]>
I've only done testing by pinning files on a single node, on a public IP. As such it was remarkable the network was able to find it, gateway timeouts, or no.

Question: are denylists active in the official go-ipfs binaries? Where are such denylists published? Where in the source can I look at the logic behind it? Thanks.

From web search and grepping the source my impression is while it has been discussed, no active blocking infrastructure exists, and this is being delegated to node/public gateway operators. Is this impression correct? Thanks.

they are not active, gateways operate on manual nginx blocklists

i mean ipfs.io does
