Ugh, DPMS seems to be somewhat broken with sunxi-linux 3.4 and the Cubieboard2.

I've just turned off my monitor using "xset dpms force off".

But I can't seem to turn it on again using "xset dpms force on" (it doesn't do anything).

So I had to disable DPMS completely (as it would turn my monitor off after a while, without me being able to turn it on again via SSH).

i use it here without issue, though i never do xset dpms force off/on, i just elt it blank the monitor and hit a key to unblank

steev: that's the funny part, I can't get it to unblack (reconnecting the HDMI-cable doesn't work, using any of the input devices doesn't work, xset doesn't work).

The other weird thing is that a while after the device is being started up, the monitor turns blank for a second.

is there a proper doc to get hw decoding under linaro or debian ? cedarX with the forked vlc doesn't seems to build ootb (tryied on debian), and libvdpau rarely works :/

Basically what I did was add sunxi_cedar_mod to my /etc/conf.d/modules (so that it gets loaded on boot), add udev rules (to make it available to the video group), installed the sunxi-vdpau driver, and installed ffmpeg and mplayer with vdpau support.

You have to clone the linux-sunxi repository, set the branch to stage/sunxi-3.4 and compile the kernel and its modules (should have a sane default config already).
