Hey, why do full nodes need to download the entire history to validate it? Can I not download batches of blocks and validate them while keeping the UTXO, so I don't need to have a storage as big as the ledger itself? My understanding is that one argument for small block size is that the ledger size should stay small, but I'm not sure what are the uses of storing the entire blockchain.

Oh I think I figured out a use: to provide other peers with the full history
