<tblious> hi, I was just wondering if it's possible to boot linux from internal flash of a device and not from SD card
<ganbold> I think it is possible, I'm looking for other way, to boot from SD card
<tblious> hmm
<tblious> should i create a filesystem image and flash it to the device?
<tblious> instead of system.img?
<tblious> but in what format should it be?
<tblious> and on what address? 0x0051A000 ?
<ganbold> I think those are in linux-rockchip.info wiki
<ganbold> main problem is no memory address informations
<tblious> and also how to create system.img I can't find this information
<ganbold> can you google for "linux on RK3188"?
<ganbold> there you find Ian Morrison's posts etc
<ganbold> rikomagic etc
<tblious> tnx, I'll search a bit more. I've already managed to install linux kernel and boot from SD but couldn't find any information about flashing the linux fs to the device and not external SD memory
<ganbold> tblious: can you boot kernel from SD card?
<ganbold> tblious: I thought they put kernel in nand but rootfs in SD card
<tblious> yes, kernel is on nand and fs on SD
<ganbold> yeah, I'm looking for boot completely from SD if possible
<tblious> that sounds more difficult :)
<tblious> I found Ian's posts thanks!

<arokux2> hi guys
<arokux2> I've got my radxa
<arokux2> I'd like to start playing with it, can test some stuff if you like
<tonikasch> :)
<tonikasch> omegamoon has successfully booted a rk3188 3.0.72 kernel on top of mk888 with android
<tonikasch> I don't know if he has already committed changed to his github

<tonikasch> going to have dinner
<ojn> has anyone started on a u-boot port? or are people using fastboot?
<ojn> (my hardware showed up today)
eebrah_ has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<tonikasch> ojn I think Astralix was working on that
<ojn> tonikasch: nice, that'd be awesome. my test setup isn't really geared towards fastboot. well, i can do it but it's not ideal.
<tonikasch> anyway, what hardware have you received?
<tonikasch> :)
<ojn> a radxa, I also have an older hdmi stick that i didn't do much with.
<tonikasch> aha... I'm receiving soon a radxa
<tonikasch> But I guess the part of u-boot hasn't progressed so much because of the stranfe thing that rk29/30xxnand.ko does
<tonikasch> so a f2fs was proposed by Astralix
<tonikasch> as soon as I receive the radxa I'll try the f2fs backports for 3.0 kernels
<tonikasch> (they were officially introduced in 3.5, if i remember well)
<tonikasch> they not, it (f2fs support)
