<arokux> hi guys, I've found https://github.com/linuxium/3188-SRC-AP6210
<arokux> question: is Broadcom AP6210 supported by mainline?

<tonikasch> arokux,
<tonikasch> this has also AP6210 support
<arokux> tonikasch, ok, but no support in mainline git grep shows :(
<tonikasch> which is mainline?
<arokux> 3.11 :)
<arokux> tonikasch, ^
<tonikasch> aahhh, nope, I guess...
<tonikasch> what I see is that ap6210 and many other's drivers were copied from previous kernel, so perhaps you could add it as is... don't really know if it has to be upported or what
<arokux> ok

<GeorgeJ> Hello folks!
<GeorgeJ> Is there any news with making WiFi and GPU acceleration workin with regular distros?
<Legitsu> wifi should work
<Legitsu> gpu accleration .. not so much
<tonikasch> wifi rk903 has been reported to be working on 3.0.36 kernel without patch
<tonikasch> for mk808b
<tonikasch> because on other devices having rk903 gpio pins differ
<tonikasch> and a gpio_dump from android is needed in order to change the code
<tonikasch> that will be the same with other wifi chips
<tonikasch> (the gpio dump procedure, i mean :)
<Legitsu> hmm
<Legitsu> my Mk908 uses the RK903 I think..
<Legitsu> err no it doesnt
<Legitsu> nm
<tonikasch> :P :)
<Legitsu> anyone know what side of the planet omegamoon lives on
<Legitsu> I was gonna donate him my V3 mk908
<tonikasch> ask him
<Legitsu> he hasn't been on >_>
<Legitsu> at least in the 3 or 4 days I have been here
<GeorgeJ> tonikasch: Hmm, the wifi driver is in mainline linux aswell?
<tonikasch> which is mainline, 3.11?
<tonikasch> I guess it's not, so
<GeorgeJ> Yup
<tonikasch> well, in fact rk903/rk901 is a bcmdhd... with different firmware and .cal
<tonikasch> (nvram)
<tonikasch> so if bcmdhd is in mainline...
<GeorgeJ> I wish my mk908 would run a decent linux distro. Android fucking sucks
* Legitsu just wants his mk908 to accually boot
<Legitsu> which as present it does but it only clocks up to 1008mhz
<Legitsu> but thats using a hack-job of a kernel
<tonikasch> :P I guess Omegamoon managed to make a 3.0.36 kernel boot on a mk908
<Legitsu> doesn't work on the v3 sticks
<Legitsu> hence me wanting to send him one
<tonikasch> ah, the v3 issue
<tonikasch> :s
<Legitsu> >_>
<Legitsu> I can't think for the life of me
<GeorgeJ> Legitsu: Yeah, some, if not most, of the "custom rom" people have no ideea about what they're doing.
* Legitsu is one of those people
<Legitsu> lol
<Legitsu> I just randomly tickboxes in the compiler
<tonikasch> lol
<Legitsu> untill it works
<GeorgeJ> Well, as long as you don't distribute a hack-job of a kernel, there's nothing wrong with experimenting.
* Legitsu really has no idea why the one soure tree he has works and everything else doesnt
<Legitsu> magic and sheer will power
<tonikasch> haha
<Legitsu> the people on freaktab are nice enough
<Legitsu> but some of "their code"
<Legitsu> makes me shudder
<Legitsu> and i can barely read it to understand why its scary
<Legitsu> attack of the ifdefs
<Legitsu> the weird part is you can take any of those kernel sources
<Legitsu> and they work flawless on the v1 sticks
* Legitsu glares toward china
<tonikasch> :p
<Legitsu> I should have bought a cubie
<tonikasch> a cubie?
<Legitsu> Cubieboard
<Legitsu> A20 ect ect
<tonikasch> well... next new year present
<Legitsu> heatsink plaster
* Legitsu shudders
<Legitsu> quietpossibly the most usless heatsink I have ever seen
* Legitsu has ripped better heatsinks off Pentium 3's
<tonikasch> xDD
<Legitsu> I don't understand the hate on android tho
<Legitsu> it does what it does very nicely its just people tend to ram it into applacations that it was never intended to be used for
<Legitsu> *cough tv stick*
<tonikasch> haha, well... I guess many people think tv sticks will perform as if they had linux as per the announced hardware specs
<Legitsu> linux is just a kernel
<Legitsu> >_>
<tonikasch> yes...
<Legitsu> you can use the *android *nix* kernel and then fit the rest of the ~os~around that

<tonikasch> that's what we are doing right now, aren't us? by the moment, real implementation of pure linux kernel is not viable...

<tonikasch> well, that's true, but android is somewhat limited
<tonikasch> anyway, going to bed, tomorrow I have to work in the early mornin
