<mk2soldier> I've installed cubian to the nand of the cubieboard and now I'm trying to resize the root partition to extend it to the maximum possible size, the problem that I am facing is that whenever I try to give this command: "cubian-resizefs /dev/nandd" or all the other that the guide suggest (e.g. $ cubian-resizefs /dev/nand $ cubian-resizefs /dev/nanda $ cubian-resizefs /dev/nandb $ cubian-resizefs /dev/nandc $ cubian-resizefs /dev/
kludge` has joined #cubieboard
<mk2soldier> all i get is: "error: more than 1 partiton on /dev/nand"
<mk2soldier> all i get is: "error: more than 1 partiton on /dev/nandX" (where X is the partition number)
<mk2soldier> Am I missing something?
<mk2soldier> I forget to mention that the commands are given with root permissions
<FR^2> I don't know about cubian-resizefs, I always use gparted *g*
<FR^2> is there a /dev/nandb anyway? Not /dev/nand1, /dev/nand2 and so on?-
<FR^2> what does fdisk -l /dev/nand show?
<mnemoc> /dev/nand is not compatible with fsdisk and friends
<mnemoc> there is a custom tool to handle allwinner nand partitions
<mk2soldier> I only see nand,nanda,nandb,nandc, this is the output of fdisk -l /dev/nand: http://pastebin.com/vsvdUkNm
<mk2soldier> Thank you mnemoc, could you please tell me how to install it?
<mnemoc> get the sunxi-tools repo from linux-sunxi's github
<FR^2> mnemoc: ah, I didn't know! thanks!
<mnemoc> iirc it's called nand-part
<mnemoc> every ugly rip off from the very ugly allwinner nand kernel driver
<mnemoc> refactoring highly welcomed
<mk2soldier> Thank you, I've installed it, how can I use it to extend the size of my root partition?
<mnemoc> it can only write the full partition table and rewrite a full partition table
<mk2soldier> Because according to this link: https://github.com/cubieplayer/Cubian/wiki/Install-Cubian#additional I should use "cubian-resizefs" tool
<mk2soldier> Oh ok
* mnemoc doesn't know that tool
<mnemoc> maybe it's a friendly wrapper on top of nand-part
<mnemoc> or a completely different animal
<mnemoc> but what's sure is that /dev/nand is not compatible with any standard partitioning tool
<syeekick> does the gpu have to be installed on the device?
<syeekick> driver gpu ^

<FR^2> okay, using netcat I get a speed of about 7 .5 MiB/s
<FR^2> bjoernb: Nothing, that should work just finde
<FR^2> fine
<Dodger78> MiB ?
<FR^2> iperf output: 10.0 sec 641 MBytes 537 Mbits/sec
<Dodger78> not much for gbit
<Dodger78> aaah ok and its stable ?
<bjoernb> FR^2: it does not boot up
<mnemoc> 1 MiB = 2^20 bytes
<FR^2> Yes, stable
<Dodger78> damn i hope my cubie is not hardware crap
<Dodger78> what power supply u use ?
<Dodger78> i got 12v 1.5A
<mnemoc> Dodger78: you need to step that down to 5v
<Dodger78> no i got the hdd addon
<Dodger78> that supplys 5v for cubie then via usb
<bjoernb> the blue led is blinking
<bjoernb> but no other
<bjoernb> now the spinning disk is running for the first time.
<Dodger78> 12v 1.5a should be enough or not ? i dont know the quality of the hdd addon voltage regulator
<bjoernb> so power is not the problem.
<bjoernb> i am using grub.
<jelly-home> 530Mbps is decent for a cheap arm board
<bjoernb> i am using cubietruck
<Dodger78> my gbit isnt stable thats problems

<Dodger78> im just testing 3.15rc2 this seems to work fine .. strange
<Dodger78> on gigabit , so its no physical thing. well maybe on 3.4.79 im overclocking to 1.2ghz

<FR^2> syeekick: no wonder your cubie has random resets... add a good power source...
<syeekick> such as?
<Dodger78> @FR^2 im using the cubieez distro, and you ?
<syeekick> pitty they dont come with a good power source isnt it
<FR^2> Dodger78: As I said, I don't know anymore
<syeekick> FR^2, which power supply would you reccommend?
<syeekick> does that apply for the cubie truck too?
nighty-_ has quit [Quit: Disappears in a puff of smoke]
<FR^2> syeekick: Yes
<Dodger78> 5V 2.5A
<syeekick> second one is the legit link. i use that to power the micro usb
<syeekick> and an asus charger for the power 5v lead
<FR^2> http://www.amazon.com/EasyAcc%C2%AE-Family-Sized-Portable-Smartphones-Bluetooth/dp/B00JDAIMQ2/ <-- I'm currently using that one (one of the 5V/1A USB sockets provides my cubietruck with power). But I can't make any judgment yet, I've only got it a few days ago
<syeekick> sheet its on offer at the moment
<Dodger78> is cubiejet as a routerboard in development at the moment ?
<syeekick> so the little usb to DC power jack is fine?
<FR^2> syeekick: yes, and usb output (500mA) should suffice unless you have other devices connected (such as a sata device...)
<syeekick> easyacc as its actually rated
<syeekick> the anker one is more expensive
<syeekick> what ya reckon between them two?
<FR^2> I probably would use the one by easyacc, for the anker thingy tells something about "autosensing"... You need a dumb power supply. Any "intelligent" sensing won't work
<syeekick> ok FR^2 could you put your cubie truck trhough its paces and see if the easyacc is as good

<FR^2> but as I said, I' no expert. And if you don't have any other devices to power, that thing might be overkill.
<FR^2> Currently I'm using it to power my cubieboard2, cubietruck, one raspberry pi and charge my mobile
<syeekick> its not overkill
<syeekick> they do a 40 watt one lol
